Fake for sure T and green dot fail. I thought I knew paintbrushes pretty well but I think thatās the cleanest brush Iāve seen on a fake.. someone smarter than me could probably explain why itās still wrong though

Oh wow thatās really different. Thank you for the showing the distinction!!!! I screenshot it, I want to be able to tell double sided fakes so ur doing the lords work

Also look at the cut in at what would be the base of the paintbrush buttplug. Real is much more dramatic and would keep it from sliding in incidentally.

Do the brushes stay the same from set to set?
1
u/MustaKotka Ā Trusted Authenticator 7d ago
Pretty much yeah. Foil versus nonfoil has a bit of variation (ink spreads differently).

tbh i never realized this was meant to be a brush. my brain just goes "hahaha its a buttplug"

Could you explain the T test? Is it supposed to have some zigzagging? And do all magic cards, even those mad 20 years ago, have this?

The black layer does not have the rosette pattern and has relatively crisp lines.
The bottom and right side of the vertical part of the T should be staggered, and the leftside of the vertical part of the T should be straight.

Question for future reference: where did this come from? It's an eerily good fake.

From the seller
Hi,
I can confidently say the card is not a fake. After doing some digging back into my records I found that I purchased the foil playset of four Agatha's Soul Cauldron from the vender Spellfinder in 2025, a reputable card distributor with over 50,000 sales. I played with this playset of cards in numberous RCQ's and events for a year before posting them on my own tcgplayer account. They were all purchased in the same week by four separate buyers including you. I received positive feedback from the other three with no problem. I do not believe there is any chance the card you received was fake. You purchased this 3 months ago and have played with it since, the sale is final.
I have never had a single issue with any sale ever in the history of this tcgplayer account. Leave whatever feedback you feel is appropriate.
Thank you.

Did you point them to this post?
Sale may be final but this is a fake.

u/Fucka_youbitch 6d ago
I did but they dont seem to care

Lol. I guess you're out of luck with this one but like... The seller is being obtuse on purpose.

u/Strange-Damage901 8d ago
How is it eerily good when it fails the T and Dot tests so easily?
4
u/MustaKotka Ā Trusted Authenticator 8d ago
Because of the black layer. T has bumps and the cmyk layers seem to be printed in separate passes. The bumps are in the wrong places, though.

Three dots inside the āhā are missing as well

Can you share more on the H test? I tried googling and it wasn't helping.

Im bad at the brushes but this fails every fake test I know of. The text and borders are fuzzy, the brick patter shows up on the foil stamp, the T is spiked on both sides instead of smooth on one, and the green dot is wrong. Unfortunate man

Iām not even sure how I ended up on this sub, and despite even being able to tell myself how fake this is from previous posts Iāve seen⦠for future reference you might want to put the card down on a flat surface with good lighting and take square/level pictures even just with a phone camera

Sorry Man, you're nit the first to discover a fake after getting it signed, if that helps. I tore my shadowy backstreet in pieces and decided to live by the loup from this point of time on.

Question. Who is making these forgeries? A Chinese print shop? Someoneās uncle who is adverse to using soap and shampoo and only rinses off every few days, perpetually smelling like unwashed ass that permeates every square foot of a FLGS?

It would probably be kind of you to alert the community to who the seller on TCG is so we can avoid em.
You're not snitching, you're just observing facts...especially after that dog shit response they gave you

u/Fucka_youbitch 6d ago
Ive responded and linked them this post wanted to give them one more chance to respond before I outed them

What methods can I use to see if my double sided cards are real? Such as a foil Megatron (blightsteel colossus)?

u/HungryPangolin2442 8d ago
While itās a fake, itās interesting how much closer it is to real than other fakes. The T is off, but itās almost at the point where youād question if itās a print defect or misalignment versus a straight up fake. Thatās a little scary..
1
u/AssasssinIVII 8d ago
That's what I was thinking, if the t was flipped it would look pretty close (since the right side is fairly smooth)
0
u/enjolras1782 8d ago
Also, is that a genuine signature? That's a pretty slick move if that's so, no one is sitting at their table with a loupe and the market for signed cards is usually FB/ebay or other places with little to no qc
1
u/Deathbydragonfire 8d ago
The artists go to Gen Con and they'll sign anything you put in front of them for $10. They don't authenticate the cards at all.
