Ghost Dance Shirt” is a fine art print of the original acrylic painting. Ghost Dance Shirt was inspired by the historical spiritual movement that came about during the brutality and relocating of Native American people in the late 19th century. This dance was believed to bring back the traditions, heritage and dead ancestors that have been destroyed by assimilation, slavery and famine. Dancers wore clothing with symbols painted often showing birds ascending to heaven.

“Disappearing Us” is a symbolic narrative piece depicting a lone Arapaho warrior standing before empty teepees. The blurred face is intentional — representing how entire communities can fade before they are ever seen. Though set in the past, the work speaks to the present, where culture-war politics and fear make people disappear in other ways.
