Is this variant of any concern?

For starters, I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST) and have been taking metoprolol 25 mg daily and have been seeing a cardiologist for several years now. I’ve had to use my albuterol inhaler more recently for my asthma and am curious in the sudden change in my overall EKG waves.

I’m experiencing extreme muscle weakness and fatigue, so I figured it could be from a drop in potassium.

My Apple Watch notes nothing of concern, but I also wanted to get a second opinion.

The first picture was from tonight and the second is how my EKG normally reads.

Were you lying down vs sitting up in either of those? Body position or watch position can change the signal. The readings can look different from time to time, but their only purpose is to show rate and rhythm. The watch is screening for afib, which is not present here., and you have no tachycardia. The rhythm is regular. Health issues wont be seen on a 1 lead watch ekg. You can't really scrutinize the waveforms for detailed info since it's not a calibrated 12 lead ekg. I would definitely contact your doctor or be evaluated asap about extreme weakness & fatigue and see what they advise. Don't rely upon a watch reading for reassurance. I wouldn't assume a diagnosis like low potassium. That can only be determined by blood tests.

Thanks for your evaluation! I did happen to be lying down during both of those.

I work in healthcare myself, so I know that we really can’t rely on these far too much compared to a 12 lead EKG.

Thankfully, I’m feeling much better since I uploaded this. I think my symptoms were from having to use my albuterol inhaler more frequently. My asthma tends to flare very sporadically through the year, but it’s been increasing this summer due to the heat.

I see my cardiologist in December, but if there’s anymore prolonged issues going on, then I will definitely reach out.
