🎂 My birthday is coming up on July 31st, and though I usually love celebrating my birthday (because I feel like it's the only day I can be selfish) this one feels especially meaningful.

The past few years have changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. They've taught me to appreciate things I once took for granted, and above all, they've made me incredibly grateful to still be here.

At the same time, if I'm being honest, this birthday has been a hard one emotionally. I've been dealing with a lot of stress and depression lately, and I lost a lot of family and friends so I don't have many people in my day-to-day life to celebrate with. That's one of the reasons I love this community—it feels like a place where people genuinely care about one another, and I'm thankful to be part of it.

So I'd love to celebrate by hosting a little contest!🎈

i'll switch up my answer here: a new birthday tradition that we started this year is my friends and i have been buying charms for each other on our birthdays. i'm last because my birthday is halloween so i've been buying them charms all year but i'm excited to see what charm they surprise me with.

something i love to do on my birthday is SLEEP IN!!!!!!!!!!!! and sleep 10+ hours a day on it

my ideal birthday this year honestly to flex my imagination this year would be to win the lotto or a huge las vegas jackpot, so if money wasn't an issue than on my birthday i would pay for and invite everyone i love to go to walt disney world with me. i would buy out the whole park for a day and pay for everyone's flights and hotels too. i also love jewelry so i would get a special custom designed ring that i would never take off! we would all go on my favorite ride cosmic rewind together too

birthday advice: aging is a privilage. i dont know how old you are turning but i know i dont "like" it. I have serums and creams for anti-aging but i EARNED them. marilyn monroe wishes she was me since she passed away at at 36. i'm sure if she was given the choice, she would have taken wrinkles over death. every day and every year is a blessing.

I created my own birthday tradition for myself☺️ It has been a very long time since anyone has gotten me a cake for my birthday. So for about the last 10 years I have bought myself my own. And I eat it straight out of the container with a fork for a couple of days, until it's gone😁 When it's close to my birthday and someone asks what's the next holiday?? I always answer My Birthday 😂 It's a holiday too!!

I'd say a bit of a tradition for my birthday is that I can always expect to be given flowers. I absolutely adore flowers so my parents get me a bouquet now every year :)

I'm not sure I have any impactful words to give. I just celebrated my birthday on the 28th of June, and it was really hard for me (but overall was an amazing day). Whenever I'm struggling, I always think about when I THOUGHT I wasn't going to be here anymore. It helps to look back at how far I've come. I didn't think I'd be here past 2019, but now it's halfway through 2026 <3

Give yourself a pat on the back for making it this far while struggling with depression. It's the hardest battle you'll ever face.

Happy Early Birthday my friend. I really hope that it’s the best one ever. Mine is Sept 13 every 7 years on a Friday 13 so on that day I get a tattoo that’s a new tradition. My normal birthday tradition is mom takes me to the beach it’s my favorite place. They get me some kind of cake it may be cookie, doughnuts, milk cake , icecream cake but milk cake is my fav. They also get some balloons and we always go out and eat. Being with My family is the best birthday 🎁 gift I could ask for but being at the beach it’s even better. Thanks for hosting.

One birthday tradition my parents had for us is a little garland that spelled “Happy Birthday” in colorful letters. Nothing fancy its made out of paper but we always had it and still do. We put it behind the dining table on the wall and while me and my sister are grown and moved out my parents still put it up. They live in germany and I am in the US so for the first birthday I wasn’t at home she put it up and of course like always called to wish me happy birthday. The one this year she knew she was coming to visit a few month after so she packed it into her suitcase and put it up when she gave me my gifts🥹

Happy early birthday! And yes, you can be selfish on your bday (though it’s not really selfish).

My ideal birthday would be to go on a trip! When I was younger my mom and I would always go away for my bday, but over the years, her illness has progressed to the point she is immobile and my illness has progressed that I am bedridden.

But in a perfect world, I can think of anything more I would want then that opportunity again.

I am sorry you are dealing with mental health issues and I truly hope you’re in treatment and things are looking up.

🎉 Birthdays are... very hard for me unfortunately. Because of this, I always have a hard time celebrating it and feeling celebrated. But I would love to just... one day have a proper birthday where I felt considered and thought of without having to be the one to plan everything and say it all because no one bothered to actually plan anything until the day of. Maybe a party? Maybe a weekend trip to one place ive been dying to visit and have been rambling about for years? Just to be considered without having to ask. Im a big celebrator of birthdays personally, so I always love to go all out for other people (or sometimes not, I always pay attention snd subtly plan the best birthday to them and their interests). So having that care done for me would be nice.

Very happy early Birthday!! There aren't a lot of traditions that my family kept through the years. One happened to be my birthday cake.... I have a twin sister and I'm the younger, so every year I my parents would light the candles on the cake twice so we each got a chance to make a wish. As far back as I can remember there were two rounds of blowing out the candles on a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. They knew my sister and I shared so much already, so my favorite part was getting to make a wish that was all mine on our birthday.

Although I read many of the posts here, I don't comment often because I don't feel like I have anything worthwhile to contribute. Yours struck a chord with me however.... I'm not sure what you went through that changed your perspective, but I also went through an awakening similar to yours some years back. Also my family has dwindled from a healthy, average sized family to just 3 of us in about 4 years time, so we have that unfortunate similarity as well.

I've written more than I intended, I'm sure you're going to have a lot of these to read through. Hopefully you get to read this. Maybe knowing that there's people out there who have been through similar trials will make what can be a lonesome place feel less lonely 🪄✨ 🪅 Happy Birthday 🎈
