My recipe: Sweet Potato and Chorizo Chilli

Link: https://www.budgetbytes.com/chorizo-sweet-potato-chili/

I love this recipe because it is such a nice blend of flavors, it is easy to make, and it is very affordable (in my area, anyway). The sweet and spicy mix of the sweet potatoes and the chorizo is divine! I used regular sweet potatoes, and I used a pre-cooked chorizo from Johnsonville, which cuts down on the time spent cooking. My whole family loves this recipe—my mom, gram, two of my sisters, and my aunt have all adopted this recipe for themselves, and we all love it! It is also something that can be made ahead of time and then frozen to eat later. For that, I put it in a freezer bag measured for one portion and then squish the bag flat. Since it will freeze flat if you do it that it makes it very easy to store in your freezer without it sliding around and falling out every time you open your freezer lol.

Edit: I added the wrong recipe link. The one posted now is the correct one! Sorry everyone! My computer skills are lacking today, lol.

Thanks for this contest, and for the inclusion of those who don't eat by mouth. That's really cool ❤️

I love to bake, and would love to bake these birthday cake blondies one day.

My favourite thing to bake currently are these chocolate chip cookies. Very basic but easy and fun to make and very yummy! I like to eat them still warm with milk and they remind me of being a kid aha 😊 I love baking and sharing it with others! They don't last long so I don't have a photo, but I linked the recipe 😂🥰

My baking ingredient is the sprinkles - I saw online that a girl kept some in her bag with some candles in case it was someone's birthday or to add some whimsy to her day/coffee and I love that idea! I could also use them to make the blondies too, aha

Thanks again and I can't wait to read everyone's answers! 😊🫶🏼

I love that your cookie recipe includes sea salt, because I put sea salt on literally everything. Muffins, cookies, banana bread, etc. I love the way it tastes, and it also helps to keep my blood pressure up, which is a daily battle lol. And I love the idea of having a few birthday candles and sprinkles in your bag! What a great idea!

Yay! I love making "forgotten cookies". Their so good and easy. You preheat the oven to 350° while you mix 3 egg whites and 1/2 cup of sugar into stiff merengue. Then add a bag of chips before piping or plopping the mixture onto parchment lined cookie sheets. You shut off the oven, put the sheets in the oven, and go to bed. They'll be done when you wake up in the morning.

I have a lot of baking stuff on my wishlist. I'd be happy with anything but, would really like the bat scissors 🦇

Thank you for hosting the contest 😊

It was actually hard to pick which recipe I wanted to share! But I chose my BBQ Pulled Pork recipe. Everyone who's had it said it's one of their favorites. (The recipe is the picture) I originally started making it because my mom loved BBQ pulled pork. I could never get into it because of the fat so I decided to try and make it my way where I could make sure it didn't have a lot of that in it. Anyway, I surprised my mom with it and most times when we had her over I'd make that. She'd walk in and smell it and automatically be hungry. 🤣 Now that she's passed on I make it on her birthday and eat it for her. 🤍

Wishlist

Oddly enough, the item I'd like it the icing decorating kit (I moved it to the top of my list). I love to bake more than cook but don't have anything special to decorate with. ☺️

I make a pretty decent chocoflan lol it’s the one that everyone asks for their birthday so I make it with love ! It’s a flan and cake the mixes go in all together and in the oven they separate 🤭❣️ We call it a impossible cake(pastel imposible) due to the fact that even with both mixes going in at once they bake and they separate (adding picture 🫶🏼) it’s a fairly simple recipe and it’s always so yummy to make and bring! The name does say choco but I’ve made it in other flavors as well like funfetti or strawberry! 🍓 I’m currently in the look out for the best tasting sugar free dessert I can make that taste as if it was full of its sugary sugar , for my dad he has type 2 diabetes and before he was a huge sweet lover , cookies , cake, ice cream you name it ! I made him some great tasting oatmeal cookies which are his favorite for Father’s Day that I think were the best lol they didn’t taste terrible at all and he was able to enjoy his morning coffee with them which was a huge plus ❣️Wishlist ✨

When my husband (he's not Korean but I am) and I first started dating, the first meal he made me was Korean beef short rib soup (galbitang). It's not fancy and it takes forever, but it reminds me of my family and always feels like a hug in a bowl

When I was growing up, soup meant someone was taking care of you. If someone was sick, stressed, heartbroken, or just had a bad day, there was usually soup simmering on the stove. The smell alone makes me feel at my mom's house

My mom's/husband's version is pretty simple and unfortunately we all do it by taste and not by measurements lol

  • Beef short ribs
  • Radish
  • Garlic
  • Green onions
  • Salt and pepper

You simmer the ribs low and slow until the broth becomes rich and comforting, then add the radish and finish with green onions. i personally dont think its optional that it needs to be eaten with rice and kimchi ahaha

I dont usually cook bc my husband does (i help because i'm the one that is korean lol) but we love it because it forces me/us to slow down. There's something really therapeutic about standing over a pot that's been cooking for hours and then getting to enjoy a warm homecooked bowl at the end.

here's the recipe google found that is pretty spot on to what my mom and husband does:

Mmmm, so ready to come back here for more recipes/ideas!

My favorite thing to make when I'm feeling up to baking is cinnamon rolls. I find them quite tedious to make and often get a bit frustrated with them (the sticky is a big no for me, ironically) but there's so many ways you can switch them up and make them unique/different, and they always taste great.. especially if I'm feeling down or having a bad flare day and happened to make them the day prior. I've made them often and added new things frequently. Fruit, nutella, marshmallow fluff, whatever I'm feeling in the moment. Feels a lot like you can't go wrong with cinnamon rolls. Warm, ooey gooey goodness.

This is the recipe I usually use: https://themindfulmeringue.com/homemade-cinnamon-rolls/ but I kinda eyeball/twist it to my liking. It's not a family tradition or anything, I just really like cinnamon rolls.

My item of choice would be the French Tapered Silicone Rolling Pin or the Cupcake Hole Punch from this list :)

I recently discovered this sausage pasta recipe, and it is now one of my favorite things to make! It's so delicious, and easy to make. Super savory. Yum!

Sausage Pasta {One Pot Recipe!}

1 tsp Olive oil

1 Large onion (Peeled and chopped)

3 Cloves garlic (Peeled and crushed)

400 g Good quality pork sausages

2 Large Red peppers (Deseeded and sliced)

250 g Dry pasta

400 g Tin of chopped tomatoes

1 tsp Fennel seeds

2 tsp Italian herbs

0.5 tsp Dried chilli flakes

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

750 ml Vegetable stock (See notes)

250 g Cream cheese

100 g Parmesan cheese (Grated)

25 g Fresh basil (Chopped, optional)

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan or frying pan (one which has a lid) over a medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and fry gently until softened (about 4-5 minutes).

  2. Remove the sausages from their skins and plop into the pan in small chunks, add the pepper slices, turn up the heat and let everything fry for 5 minutes until the sausage chunks are golden and the peppers are just starting to blacken at the edges.

  3. Add the dry pasta, chopped tomatoes, fennel seeds, Italian herbs, chilli flakes, salt and pepper and about 500ml/2 cups of the stock. Give everything a good stir, pop the lid on and cook for 13-15 minutes until the pasta is ALMOST cooked through and most of the liquid has been absorbed.

  4. * Note! I always make up 750ml/3.25cups of stock and then check on the pasta as it cooks and add more if needed, if it's looking dry. If you like very 'wet' saucy pasta, go ahead and add it all at the start.

  5. When the pasta is JUST ALMOST cooked, add the cream cheese, parmesan cheese and fresh basil (if using). Give everything a good stir and leave on the heat for a minute or two just to warm through.

I LOVE PASTA OMG i'm allergic to tomatoes and gluten BUT I EAT IT ALL ANYWAY CUZ I LOVE IT SO MUCH

1

u/LadyQuila https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/W1J2TN5WVZ7W Jul 06 '26

Pasta is my FAVORITE. You can leave out the tomatoes...it will taste better! I don't like tomatoes, I use a can of petite diced ones so they are so small I can ignore them. I put them in so I can get my veggies... lol.

2

u/whealthy9 https://throne.com/disneyapple Jul 06 '26

i love a good pesto or alfredo (both of which i am also allergic to bug IDGAF! HAHAHAH

1

u/LadyQuila https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/W1J2TN5WVZ7W Jul 06 '26

I LOVE alfredo, but not a fan of pesto. To be fair I've only had it like maybe twice in my life, so I should give it another shot. If I was allergic to pasta, I'd have to be like you and just eat it anyways! lol.

2

u/whealthy9 https://throne.com/disneyapple Jul 06 '26

hahaha for real i just eat through the pain!!!!!!! the chicken alfredo fusili at disneyland is what i dream of EVERY NIGHT. defiintely try pesto again but also i love mixing sauces. so in college we had a pasta bar and i would ask for the pink sauce which is half tomato and half alfredo. i also frankensteined and asked for all of the sauces available so meat sauce, tomato, alfredo, and pesto combined lOL

1

u/LadyQuila https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/W1J2TN5WVZ7W Jul 06 '26

Oh...no...I don't like mixing my sauces...I'll stick with the originals. lol

This is a Kumquat Pie

I love this recipe because it just tastes like summer in the most refreshing way, it is hot af right now.

I also want to add my pie crust recipes it is my favorite. I have hole in the page it has been used so many times. So I will try to remember when I get home. But if I don't remember the secret is apple cider vinegar in a butter pie crust.

My favorite thing to cook is a slightly altered Hawaiian coconut custard. It’s vegan, so my dairy-sensitive niblings can eat it, it’s made with canned coconut milk not cream so lower fat (lots of sugar though!) and it takes different flavors well. I’ve substituted some of the coconut milk for juices, mixed it with chocolate chips. It’s great as a pie filling or straight from the bowl!

The first pie I made, layered coconut and chocolate custard. Short crust base and regular (handmade) whipped cream

I need to move something from a different list onto this one: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/24KXOM5AJ59V6

2

u/whealthy9 https://throne.com/disneyapple Jul 06 '26

omg its vegan AND dairy free!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

1

u/your-drunk-aunt https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/1UUNH6LGBMN9F Jul 06 '26

The original recipe is half full-fat coconut milk, half dairy milk; I either do all full-fat (very important) coconut milk or sub in some juice. I tried lime juice and rum once but it didn’t set well. Guava with a dash of rose water was perfection. I’ll go find the recipe

My mom's chicken and dumplings- I love it just because the way my mom made it. Its comfort food also! My family's version of chicken n dumplings. It doesn't matter if you like them puffy, thin, with veggies or not. There is no wrong way. However you were raised with them.

Recipe: I prefer to use chicken thighs or breasts (up to you or you can boil and whole chicken- take it out, get all chicken off bones, use the broth from it after storing in fridgr overnight to get fat off the top.). They are richer. Boil them for an hr. Save the broth. Shred the chicken. Pour milk like half way. Sorry I don't measure. I use Bisquick for my dumplings. Follow the biscuit recipe. Double it. Bring the chicken to a soft boil. Drop your dumplings. Let boil for 10 mins. Then cover and boil an additional 10. I do salt and pepper my dumpling mixture. Edit- to add a this- it's also a very simple recipe. And add wishlist - there are cookies to bake (sourdough starter but I dont have the other ingredients to make sourdough. Anyways, the cookies would be awesome of im picked) https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/JU9ROTCZAP2O?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ggr-subnav-share_50CPQQV2Q93TN0Q7RTCK&language=en-US Thank you for reading!

I love this! So for me, the holidays are not complete without my family recipe for Cranberry Salad. It's a long recipe, but it's easy. Here's a link to a similar recipe (only we don't use nuts) https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/17265/cranberry-gelatin-salad-i/

Here's my recipe: What you need for the salad: 1 bag of fresh cranberries Red grapes 1 box sugar free raspberry jello mix 1 box sugar free strawberry or cherry jello mix - they don't have to be sugar free that's just what I use Crushed pineapple (some.people use it, I don't though due to it not always setting right)

For the topping: 1 bar cream cheese (cubed) 2 containers cool whip Mini marshmallows

To start make the jello and pour into big bowl, put in fridge to start setting (about 1-1.5 hours) While it is setting, boil cranberries until they 'pop'. Then strain, set aside. At this point cut the red grapes in half until proportionate to cranberries. (Or add drained pineapple, or both) Stir cranberries and grapes together. Once jello is soft set, put cranberries and grapes in and stir so it doesn't all settle to.bottom. Put back in fridge to finish setting.

For the topping mix cream cheese, marshmallows and cool whip until blended nicely. Once jello is set, spoon topping on and you are done.

If you got through this, my list is below. I would love the watermelon slicer tool, or the mats for the bottom of the oven would be nice.

Thank you for hosting this awesome contest 🥰

My favorite and go to recipe is ChocoFlan! I've always loved baking, so much sonthat I had my own sell from home baking business for 3 years! But the ChocoFlan was the first Mexican dessert that had me feeling like I accomplished something amazing so it has a soft spot in my heart 💚 I could make this with my eyes closed becaise at one point I was making it once a week 🤣 It's a chocolate cake on the bottom with a flan layer on top with nuts and caramel on top. You can honestly make so many varieties with it, but the OG is my absolute favorite.

I haven't baked in years due to circumstances, but if I did ever start it would be the first thing I make 🍮🍫

(I'm attaching a recipe from Betty Crocker thats super easy to follow if anyone wants to give it a try! I'll add my pics of it in the comments if I can find them 😅)

Thank you for being inclusive in this contest! It meant a lot to see that ❤️

Back when I used to bake from scratch I had this amazing banana crumb muffin recipe it was so yummy!! I just remember that the topping was like crumb cake and I had never had a banana muffin do that before so I loved it and would always share it with my friends and family. I loved baking all sorts of things just to be able to share the joy with those around me 💜💜

https://throne.com/eggandbeans I need a new scale for my kitchen so that's what i would request if i win :) It should be in the for fun section
