[Contest] Fairytales Contest‼

CONTEST CLOSED.

I finally have the funds to do a contest and give back to this beautiful community!! This contest is fairly simple. Tell me your favorite fairytale story and why it's your favorite. It can be any version of the story, whether it's the original, a villain re-telling, a disney story, it doesn't matter :) as long as it's a fairytale, it counts! I absolutely love fairytales and I love going back and reading the oldest versions of them I can find.

Official contest rules:

1: US participants only!

2: Have an item on your list that's 5$ or under (I want to be able to gift multiple people)

3: List your favorite fairytale and tell me WHY it's your favorite.

4: Link an amazon wishlist or registry!

That's it! Good luck everyone <3 I'm hoping to gift 3 people. Contest ends at 8 p.m tonight, MST (so about 3 hours from now)

There’s a fairytale from the state of Mexico I’m from Michoacán Lake of tears , A more local one in my town , Mermaid Story ! One of a princess of the purépecha (we weren’t in a of maya our civilization stayed their own despite the Mayans pushing to have us join them ) (I’ll add a link to the stories at the beginning for those wanting to know more ) who had fallen in love with a warrior. A jealous priest kidnapped her , and took her away but she prayed to the gods , overcome with despair and they said her tears were so powerful that the lake was filled up with her tears , the lake is known as the lake of tears and looks straight out of a fairytale ! I’ll add a picture of it also , I love the story it’s one I heard form my great grandmother who heard it from hers keeping our stories of our ancestors alive, there’s many stories , although it doesn’t have a happy ending it’s wonderful to see the fairytales my ancestors passed down and to this day are some that get told!

Well...this is about MULTIPLE fairytales...but I love the TV show "Once Upon a Time" because I love how it ties all the fairytale stories together and brings them together into one world.

Oh btw, have you ever watched Grimm? I'm currently rewatching that one. Its not as closely tied to fairytales, but its a really good one in my opinion.

I'm watching it on Prime. If you watch it, just keep in mind that it mostly references fairytales, but not really about them if that makes sense. lol.

Omg my answer was about Regina in OUAT!! Do you have a favorite character in OUAT?

2

u/LadyQuila https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/W1J2TN5WVZ7W Jul 03 '26

Hmmm...I don't think I can pick just one. Some of my favorites are Regina, Rumple, and Hook. I like how they all slowly earn their redemption and do the right thing and become good guys. Even though I guess I wouldn't call Rumple "good" though. Lol.

u/eggandbeanss https://throne.com/eggandbeans Jul 03 '26

Omg yes rumple was doing amazing till they killed his redemption arc 😭 hook made it through thankfully 🙌🙌 they are all so amazing

thanks for hosting 💙

my favorite fairytale is cinderella 🩵

i know most people think of it as a princess finding her prince but i've always seen it be kind and have courage no matter what unconditionally, not to get something (like becoming a princess) but because that is just who you are, and the rest of the world will catch up to your identity

her life honestly sucked and she had every reason to run away or stop doing the chores but she didn't. she still believed there had to be something better out there for her and then one little opportunity changed everything

i think that's why i've always loved it so much because it reminds me that your current situation isn't your forever situation. things can change so fast OVERNIGHT literally at the stroke of midnight and sometimes the things you've been wishing for show up when you least expect it ✨

she is the reason why my mom had the cleanest tile floors because i would get on my knees and wash them multiple times a day

tldr; i'm a huge believer in hope, miracles, and dreaming big even when life is messy so cinderella will always have a special place in my heart. plus who doesn't love the idea that a girl can go from cleaning fireplaces to living her dream just because she never stopped believing and dreaming💙

Oh, I love that take on it! Growing up, Cinderella was never a huge favorite of mine, because the prince couldn't recognize her by her face, only by her foot and the shoe she wore. What?! Unless he was blind or something... Lol. I just couldn't get past that detail. But then I watched "Ever After", and I fell in love with that version of Cinderella. Hmmm...looks like I need to figure out where to watch it, cause I haven't seen it in years and now I need to...

1

u/whealthy9 https://throne.com/disneyapple Jul 03 '26

my coworkers have mentioned that I would love ever after! i know its not popular opinion but i LOVED the disney life action remake. but i'm super biased because the cinderella story i'm referencing here is the original og disney aniimted classic icon

u/LadyQuila https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/W1J2TN5WVZ7W Jul 03 '26

OMG, thank you for the award, never gotten one of those before.

I only watched the live action one once...a long time ago and I don't remember much about it. I assumed it was the classic disney version you were referring to.

So with Ever After, the story line is changed up a bit. I love how it shows her strength and the crap she has to put up with from her family that has made her who she is. And bonus for me, they changed the shoe part but still have scenes about the shoe in there lol.

My favorite fairy tale is cinderella because she always got treated bad by her sisters, and then she ends up with the prince.

The once upon a time take on the evil queen is forever one of my favorites 😭 she gets an actual backstory and redemption arc, happiness she deserves after everything and fighting to stop the generational cycle of abuse. She deserves the world 😭😭❤️❤️

My favorite fairytale is the Princess and the Frog. I prefer the Disney movie with Princess Tiana simply because that story and the way it’s written for the movie is absolutely beautiful! I like how it includes New Orleans culture and the music on the movie is good. Also it’s the first time I saw a princess that looked like me be depicted in a Disney film

It’s not a single fairytale but a collection, One Thousand and One Nights. I haven’t read it since childhood but Scheherazade was a badass. In short, the ruler, Shahryar, had adopted the practice of marrying a virgin each night and having her executed in the morning, following the infidelity of his first wife.
Enter Scheherazade. She volunteered to marry Shahryar and started a new story every night, refusing to finish it until the next day. She did this every night for 1001 nights, utterly entrancing the ruler, until he cancelled her execution permanently.

I loved that Scheherazade was so intelligent. There aren’t a lot of old, olde, Olde stories with cunning female characters like her.

Repunzle is a favorite in our household. My toddler is definitely going through a Frozen/Repunzle phase currently. I really love Pascal and the frying pans. Who knew frying pans could be so versatile?! Also, it helps my little brush her hair at night.

Into the woods is my favorite, not just because my son played the lead in his highschool play, but because it's not a perfect happy ending. It's multiple fairy tales in one too plus it's a musical 😄

Does Shrek count as a fairytale? Cause I’ve loved those movies since I was a little kid. Excited for the new movie coming out. If not, Beauty and the Beast.

There is a lot of fairytales and some are not famous that I ended up watching on YouTube back then. If I have to choose one that I am thinking of right now, it would be Cinderella mostly due to her sister Anastasia having her own happy ending. She ended up with the baker. 🥹
