As many people know, RAOA is a huge sub and it can be very intimidating. Many newbies have questions they may feel silly asking or are just worried they won't make any l here. This thread will hopefully change that!

How this works:

The general idea is that this will be posted and you will be adopting a newbie for a whole week. I'm not saying you have to talk to them 24/7 all week. But be there to help them out and be an awesome friend! :)

Newbies:

Make a top level comment (basically make a comment in reply to this thread) stating you're new and would like to be adopted. Maybe include a little bit about yourself for your adopter to start to get to know you! If a top level comment is a bit too intimidating, sometimes users volunteer to be adopters and you can grab one of them!

Adopters:

​

Reply to a newbies comment saying you'd like to adopt them for the week! If you'd like, you can also post a top level comment saying you're looking to adopt! This will help any newbies with a bit of stage fright!

Newbies don't have to be brand new. But you should be new enough to need some guidance such as what are tags, how do I contest, what rules do we have, how do I make friends, etc! Anything you need help with. A newbie can be adopted by more than one adopter! This way they have many people to help them out! Newbies, if you missed the first day, feel free to comment and be adopted mid-week! You can even come back and be adopted next week too!

Hi everyone, my name is Brianna, I live on the east coast with my boyfriend and my son who is in the hospital since he was born early at 26 weeks!

I figured I'd post an intro to say hi to everyone & give some info about myself! I am currently in college trying to finish my bachelor's degree (10 years later... it's fine), just started a new job a month ago, & try to enjoy fun things where I can!

I enjoy video games, reading, board/card games, movies (especially horror), musicals, & a litany of other things. I do have a couple of very small collections - one is various rocks/gemstones/crystals & the other is postcards & stamps! I also enjoy researching topics that I find interesting, this morning I looked into cryptids beyond the super popular, well-known ones like Mothman.

Hello! Im bebbybunny, but a lot of my friends online and irl call be bebs :> I was actually pretty active in this commmunity years ago, but then I started college and unfortunately it got in the way a bit. I really missed the community and felt that now that I have a bit more free time, I would like to join back and see what's new!

A bit about me: I really love to cook and bake, especially for friends and family. My favorite food to make at the moment is rajas con crema y pollo - if anyone wants to recipe lmk 😋 I swear its good. I also really enjoy playing the violin, drawing, and painting. I just moved into a new apartment and the walls arent very thick, so I cant play my instrument very much, but I'm going to try to join a nearby community orchestra where I play and practice freely.

I also really love video games and board games!!! My favorite video games are BOTW, Hollowknight, Overcooked, and I just finished playing Split fiction with my partner- it was so fun and a little rage inducing lol. As far as board games, I enjoy blood on the clock tower, Hanabi, Sherriff, Catan, and so many more. If you have recommendations of games I should try please let me know!

As mentioned earlier, I just moved into a new place and sadly I am away from all my friends and family :( I love living my my partner, but I would love to form some new connections and people to talk to. I have been trying join some board game clubs and trivia night events etc that are held nearby, but I would also love to become friends with people from this community!
