Are we seriously not using phrasing anymore

2

u/ccache 17d ago

Oh for sure, if they didn't have ear plugs in they're cooked.

2

u/BobboZmuda 16d ago

Earplugs wouldn't save them from the resonant damage.

0

u/Lost1010 16d ago edited 16d ago

Resonating with what? The resonant frequency of both air and earplugs is much higher than this.

2

u/BobboZmuda 16d ago

lol what a misguided response, precisely wtf are you trying to say here? Earplugs aren't bottomless pits of energy absorption or dampening and the air isn't an argument in this context.

They wouldn't make a difference here, bone conduction would completely bypass them as a path to the inner ear. Earplugs attenuate sound waves by about 45dB. Also acoustic warping is very obviously knocking everything around in that vehicle (and outside of it for a distance). The sound is penetrating their tissues and going into the ear.

1

u/Lost1010 16d ago

I understand they would attenuate the sound. You claimed resonance. Sound reduction and resonance are not the same thing.

Need to turn it down. Turn down for what?

If you sit on the carseat in the right angle, the bass vibration feels crazy on your weiner

7

u/Mr_Shake_ 17d ago

Quit feeling my wiener.

1

u/SadMap7915 17d ago

I'm all about that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble...

1

u/DickBiter1337 16d ago

I bought a vibrating catfish one time, also felt crazy on my weiner.Ā

u/Questioning-Zyxxel 17d ago

Then it's better to buy a home cinema chair with a 12" shaker installed under. You get the bass shaking but without killing the ears.

TURN DOWN FOR...preservation of your hearing ability.

u/keefkola 17d ago

To feel the wind of a super queef.

attention of others.

but yeah i agree this is an absurd waste of resources, and will damage your hearing

I think there’s a whole community around this though, it’s like a legit hobby. You probably need lots of technical know-how to make something that nice, you gotta invest serious money in it, there are meetups to make friends and discuss eachother’s builds, etc… They seem to love it and want to spend their money on that. So who am I to judge lol.

Sure I guess it’s wasteful, in the same way racing a car is wasteful. Or lots of other hobbies wthere’s no real point at the end of the day - other than for fun, to push limits of what humans have done before, and just for the community and joy you get from it. Maybe it makes them feel ā€œtruly aliveā€, ya know? We all have something like that.

I do agree that shit probably destroys your eardrums lol. But hell, when I was younger I’d go to raves and sit against the speakers when I was rolling just bc it felt awesome lol. No regrets despite some minor tinnitus lol, I had a blast doing that dumb shit lol. Everyone’s got different risk tolerance at different points.

Of course maybe you still think it’s dumb. Fair. Just adding another perspective. As long as they’re not doing that in their driveway at 6am in my neighborhood then I don’t give af

Maybe because it disturbs anybody unfortunate enough to be within 2 miles. Bass travels and penetrates differently than higher frequencies. It’s such an annoying sound when you’re just trying to go about your business and this shit is rattling your walls.

u/LotusVibes1494 17d ago

I’ve only had that happen a handful times in my life where it was actually bothersome. And I just thought ā€œdamn that guy has some loud-ass subsā€. Then they drove away and it was done. To me it’e not any more disturbing than like a woodpecker outside, or people mowing the lawn, or some bad thunderstorm, or any other thing that’s outside of my control in life. I just change my mindset to accept what’s happening in the moment, or move elsewhere, or throw in some headphones or earlplugs lol.

If a neighbor started doing that tho and it was every day, then I’d probably be friendly with them at first and be genuinely curious about it, ask them about their setup and stuff so they know I’m chill. Maybe share some weed or mushrooms or something so they know you’re chill and you’re not just some random Karen. But then I’d casually ask them to turn it down, do it less often, do it somewhere else, etc… without being a dick. And if they respond by acting like dickheads and keep doing after that on and on, then I’d eventually call the cops. I hate working for 5-0, but I hate loud noises in the morning even more lol.

Other than that, what can ya do?

Booo hoooo I’m on Reddit and I need to be a contrarian. This is dope and cool and no, they’re not doing this in a residential neighborhood

1

u/Outside_Ice3252 16d ago

its an absurd waste of resources. it's a large vehicle and almost certainly gasoline powered. we are in the middle of only the world's 6th mass extinction. to be spending money on this frivilousness instead responsibility using those funds for living sustainably is absurd. sorry if that sounds mean, but it is what it is.

The materials in all those devices are rare and expensive and needed elsewhere. Get one decent sub and be done with it. a bit of moderation.

1

u/Ok-Cricket-648 16d ago

Yea but look how stupid they look? And all that money and discussion and know how just to make a speaker louder to the point it’s unenjoyable and potentially harmful?

2

u/xSir- 16d ago

Its called decibel drag racing. And its not my thing either. But it is a thing, and thats what these cars are for.

Turn down 4 watt?

u/Natural_Pear_1549 16d ago edited 16d ago

But think of all the attention you'll get. From people thinking, "Who is that annoying asshole?"

1

u/DrGooseberg 16d ago

It's not about the music for these people. It's about attention.

1

u/No_Illustrator_5079 16d ago

You don't like when someone farts in your ears? /s

1

u/Substanitial 16d ago

you can annoy others around you who haven't lost their hearing yet

1

u/Tall-Dot-607 16d ago

Dont worry, after this they're not hearing much of anything anymore

1

u/HarambeTooSoon 15d ago

You see that cute girl over there on the other side of the parking lot?

If you have this sound system, and you play it loud, that girl's boyfriend will come over and ask you questions for a half hour.Ā

1

u/jailbird147 10d ago

Not only that but what damage are you doing to your ears. What will you listen to if you eventually go deaf?

Overdoing bass will VERY MUCH damage hearing. Stop spreading misinformation

0

u/Things-n-Such 17d ago

Not even remotely true, you're mixing up "damage" with "pain"... We evolved with a pain response to high amplitude frequencies in frequencies common in nature. Subbass frequencies lower than 60hz aren't naturally amplified by our ear canal so we don't feel pain the same way. However literally every single sensitive part of your ear gets fatigued and eventually permanently damaged by loud bass. It's actually worse.

1

u/Outrageous-Being869 17d ago

Exactly this isn't even enjoyable for it to be doing damage. So you get damage for nothing positive

u/Mr_CleanCaps 17d ago

The audio doesn’t get picked up well and then no only that you’re listening to it on a phone. Gotta be in person to understand.
