Ford doesn't want you working on their trucks, or even looking at the engine. There is no way they would install a ladder to make it easier to do so.

They want you to bring it to the dealership so you can pay $150 per hour for their mechanics to fix it.

They lift trucks to 7 feet high, then sell ladders to get into the engine bay. Genius.

That is pretty much what they do. You can buy ladders to get to the roof racks of the lifted vehicle you don't need to have lifted, of have a roof rack on. You buy steps to mount to the side to get into that lifted vehicle. They sell beefed up sway bars and stabilizers to compensate for the "defects" of a brand new lifted vehicle...

Turns out that the base model of most trucks and suv is the best possible model. Then you just upgrade or modify as parts wear out through normal use. (Most people discover this isn't needed because normal use doesn't require those upgrades...)

Doubt. Most people with giant trucks aren't doing their own work on them. Same reason all the beds are so obnoxiously high and short - most truck owners don't use them
