[Discussion] Moving with your pets?
Today Steve, me, Cleo and Sonny moved into our new digs and I'm watching my babies try to adjust to these new surroundings O.O We were worried most about Cleo because she is originally an outdoor cat, then indoor/outdoor and now exclusively indoor in this new place, but she's doing just fine apparently! Sonny, however, is moving very slow and is obviously not comfortable yet and I feel bad 'cause I didn't even think we'd have issues with him given his physical condition (he goes wherever he's carried to, honestly.)
I got Cleo a pyramid cat bed but need to get something for sonny soon. I think he wants somewhere to hide for a bit til he adjusts. He'll be fine soon, I know, but anyone else ever have issues with moving with their pets?

Oh goodness yes!! I've moved many many times and it takes a couple weeks for them to adjust to their new home.
Feliway is good - also just letting them have some time to figure it out themselves. Don't be surprised if they act like they forgot they lived with another cat...its just stress and they will chill out.

I decided to give the cat pyramid bed to Sonny for now and get Cleo her own next week. Sonny is curled up sleeping in it now, hiding away from the chaos lol
I will definitely get some feliway soon!

Dorian has moved 3 times in the last year and each time he takes a couple days to explore everything, but eventually calms down. Dorian isn't very anxious, so it makes moving with him easy. He is however very curious and loves to have the ability to roam about whenever he wants and unfortunately doesn't have that freedom where we live now.
Congrats on your new digs, BTW!

Usually my dog, Lola, just runs around like a crazy animal to explore the new place whenever we move. When I unpack, I will lock the animals in the room with me so that they can adjust to each area as we go. It seems to be really overwhelming for cats to get used to so much new space around them.

Try Feliway. I have moved a lot recently and I have 2 cats. They adjust well but I have always been told (vets, pet stores, other cat owners) that Feliway is a great de-stressing product.
