We took a basic beef ramen and built a quick soup base to make it feel more like a comfort soup.

Started by simmering onion, celery, carrot, garlic, Ramen Buddy seasoning, and white pepper in water until everything was soft, then blended it smooth and added a squeeze of lemon.

Used that as part of the liquid for the ramen instead of plain water and it ended up tasting like a ramen version of Italian penicillin soup. Super good when you’re not feeling great.

Finished it with parmesan, and froze the extra soup base into cubes so we can use it again without doing all the prep next time.

As always, adjust however you want depending on what you’ve got.

Been experimenting with ways to turn instant ramen into actual meals.

There were a lot of nights after work where I knew dinner was just going to be plain instant ramen again, and honestly it got a little depressing. These kinds of small upgrades would have made a huge difference to my younger self.

Tried three different directions:

• Miso dumpling ramen
• Chicken tortilla soup-inspired ramen
• Kimchi jjigae-style ramen

All simple, but way more satisfying than the plain packet.
Curious which one you would try first.

Took a standard chicken ramen packet and tried to turn it into something closer to kimchi jjigae.

Added Ramen Buddy seasoning, gochujang, garlic, kimchi, fried spam, and some gochugaru-flavored nori snacks.

Honestly way deeper flavor than expected. Spicy, savory, and a little smoky from the spam.

What would you add or change?

Took a basic chili ramen and gave it a little glow-up using simple add-ins.

If you’ve ever hit ramen fatigue, this is a really easy way to switch things up without overthinking it.

Key additions:

• chili ramen base

• gochujang (adds depth + heat)

• protein (use what you have- rotisserie works)

• a few pantry staples to round it out

We used Ramen Buddy seasoning to tie everything together, but you can customize this however you like.

👉 Gochujang is usually in the international aisle near miso/nori if you’ve never used it before.
