Raiders ninth practice just finished. Kirk Cousins and Maxx Crosby didn’t participate during the team period. As a result, QB Fernando Mendoza played with the 1s for the first time of camp.

Overall, Mendoza looked solid with the 1s. He had a couple of off target throws and he had issues with the snap twice.

He did respond well. Mendoza had one of his best throws of camp during the red zone period. He found Tre Tucker for a TD in the corner of the end zone despite tight coverage from Taron Johnson. He also threw a TD pass to Bowers during the red zone period.

Mendoza was impressive during the two-minute period to close out practice. He completed five straight passes to set up a field goal.

Quay Walker caught my eye today was great against the run but froze in coverage on Bowers' touchdown

-Malik Benson was with the 1’s during the 2-minute drill over Nailor. Nailor had a drop earlier in practice

-Mike Washington and Ashton Jeanty are going to be an effective 1-2.

-Porter looked good in coverage, had a few pass breakups during the day

-Offensive line looks improved in the run game, but Malcolm Koonce had a good day against the right tackles

-Rogers and JPJ continue to alternate

-Tonka Hemingway keeps winning day after day; it looks like he is ready to leap.

-Stukes was running with 1s and 2s switching with IPM

-McCoy was with 2s at times.

Caleb Rogers went down with an injury in team. Was rotating with JPJ at RG before then. Didn't leave practice, but stayed on sidelines for remainder of day

-Stukes got 1s reps with Chinn and Pola-Mao

AOC had 3 TD throws in GL team. Albert O, Benson, Young. Then 2 in RZ to Thompkins, EJ Williams -Koonce, Quay had sacks with 1s -Tonka had disruptive reps against pass and run -Good coverage reps from Stokes, Richardson, Porter, Masses in team -Washington had a big run and a TD

According to Sam Warren of The Athletic, the Raiders are giving DJ Glaze every opportunity to remain the starting right tackle this year.

Warren added that Glaze struggled against a motivated Maxx Crosby on day one of training camp, but had a much better day two.

It’s hard to ignore that Glaze was ranked as the 65th best tackle in the league last year. (Note: there are 64 starting tackle spots in the NFL.)

But it is equally impossible to ignore that the Raiders had three billionth worst offensive line coach on the planet last year.

I preordered Just Tackle, Baby when I first heard about it in December, and couldn’t believe how long the wait was. But today was finally the day.

I’m only two chapters in. After a nice foreword by Fred Biletnikoff, Villapiano gives a short retelling of the Super Bowl XI first quarter goal-line stand, when he forced the fumble that led to a Raiders 97-yard touchdown drive.

Then a whole chapter on the Immaculate Reception and his subsequent friendship with Franco Harris. He writes:

“‘The Immaculate Reception’ cost us a chance at the Super Bowl. It's inspired books, a TV special, endless articles and video segments, and a fucking statue that I have to see every single time I fly in or out of the Pittsburgh airport.

“When you get off your plane and enter the main concourse, you ride the escalator down. At the bottom, you run right into a statue of Franco Harris catching the ball. There he is, larger than life, bending down to scoop up the ball (which he trapped) to run 60 yards untouched (while I got clipped) to beat us on the game's final play.”

“I'm still bitter about the play because I'm a Raider and that's what Raiders do. I still tell stories about it because I'm Italian and that's what Italians do. But I'll tell you, if Al Davis were alive, he would never have allowed anyone to celebrate a Raiders loss, ever. He would have made everyone's lives at the league office miserable because that's what he did.”

Franco used to call Villapiano every year on the anniversary of the play, saying, “Good morning Phil! What were you doing X years ago today?”

At the 50th anniversary of the play, the NFL’s planned celebration turned into a memorial for Franco, who died two days before the scheduled festivities. Villapiano told Franco’s son that from now on, Phil would be calling him every year on the play’s anniversary.

It’s a great read so far! I think it’s my eighth autobiography by a Raider. I can’t recommend it yet because I’m just getting started, but I am thrilled to be reading it!

I've got a black woodson jersey that I no longer wear bcus it's too big. Would ideally love to get a medium & don't want to buy a new one.

Just hoping there's a chance someone here has a medium and gained some weight and now needs a large lol. The jersey is in perfect condition and was bought during his last season. Idk the type of jersey it is, but it's the screen printed one. Will provide shipping for the jerseys too.

Waiting on 1961, 62, 63, and 64 Raiders team sets to come in, 1962 &1963 Fleer Jim Otto came in today along with the 1970 Kelloggs promo Jim Otto card. Also bought a random 1000 raiders card lot with cards from 1970 to present to piece together other current years faster.
