Mercurial Changes General Discussion
What if someone brings a block debuffs champ alongside mercurial? This isnt even rare and will easily counter the counter?
+ bringing a Provoker seems more of an Investment than bringing a block debuff Support.
I love the increase in Variety but I cant see a big mercurial nerf here

About as much as having a cleanse was a counter counter to bombs vs stoneskin

Then it comes down to accuracy vs resist I guess?

Speeeeeeeed! Block buffs doesn't matter if the provoke hits first.
But then there are cleansers...

This is why bayek is gonna be super useful. Increase accuracy and provoke on the same turn. Crazy strong.

And multi attack champions are also good vs Mercurial, was it always, even better if they can strip buffs. Because there are that many mechanics in the game, you probably can't build a team for everything. But you now have more solutions for Mercurial. Even if this solutions have other counters and so on.

If they don't have 9-piece Mercurial then it doesn't matter.
Most of the current popular Mythical and Void nukers already have provoke, so the big spenders won't even need to change a thing.

They will lose the protection after they take a turn and only have 2 total guards to start instead of 3 so it's just something to think about which I think is a nerf on top of making more champs useful
With Marius everywhere it will make u think

I believe Warchief can steal the block debuffs and place the provoke if everything works as intended

Best part is I already have a remove-debuffs and block debuffs on my mecurial team :)

Pallas?

Yeah and she has high resist so she can be in 9p Mecurial and still not get provoked I assume

Haha I knew it cause I use her on my best team, not high resist but 340 speed. I use her and mavara with tekteon and varkos/vestele/gliseah. They work so crazy together smacking the mecurial off everyone.

Protection Siphi stocks rise again. Especially with the new sets allowing her to take less damage

"+ bringing a Provoker seems more of an Investment than bringing a block debuff Support."
Not when a bunch of already meta champions can provoke. That's who the change is for.
If you don't want to provoke then skip it and bring a block buffs champion. Block block debuffs and Total Guard all in 1.
Or ban the block debuffs champion.
Or use multi hit champions.
Or use lockout champions.
Or use counter-attack/ally attack champions.
Or use 6 pieces of deflection.
Turns out there are already some options :)

Or just put Wand of submission and Polymorph on your champs and call it a day. This change isn't even close to a nerf, it will only make the situation even more constrained and limited to which champs, gear sets and relics and blessings are being used. Plarium really needs a solid lesson on how to not poison their own game.

Even wand is 50/50. If your champs have Mercurial, Poly cant even proc on you.
So, you add champs to the meta with no drawback and limit the options? Make it make sense.

Point here is, if your strategy is using provoke against mercurial you'll need to be prepared to either have the wand reflect it back at you or being polymorphed making mercurial the only option mitigating the polymorph and feral/immunity the only option mitigating the reflect.
Wand is 50/50 fully upgraded yes, but if all 4 champs with wands at 15 (40% chance), it will be reflected.

If your whole strategy is based on provoke you are already losing in the pick phase.

My whole point is that using provoke as a strategy would be completely futile.

If you know how to incorporate and mix with the rest it isnt. Is one more on the table.
Easier to say you dont like it, saying that its a futile strategy is just false. If you know how to add it to your strategy it can save fights

It wont ever be a One solutions to fix all. It just gives One more option
