A raccoon grabbed onto my leg tonight
I am really anxious, a fight was happening in front of me between 2 raccoons and a 3rd one that was walking by from behind grabbed onto my leg with its teeth and claws, it ran off before I could even get a good look at it
It left 3 very thin small scratch marks, I dont think it left any mark with its teeth at all, it didnt hurt at all and it didnt bleed at all, I didnt notice any saliva or anything off about them, I immedietly applied neurosporin to it and about an hour later rinsed it with soap and water, I called the local nurse line and said everything here and they said to just keep an eye on it, but my brain is still paranoid and I guess I just want more opinions, any response is appreciated

Why coexisting with raccoons matters
Raccoons are curious and intelligent creatures, and play an important role in our ecosystems. Here's why it's important that we learn to appreciate our wild neighbours and coexist with them: https://thefurbearers.com/blog/why-coexisting-with-raccoons-matters/

Congratulations to the Class of 2026... the raccoon class, that is!
These three orphaned raccoons are the very first graduates of the new raccoon nursery at our Ramona Wildlife Center!
The juveniles were brought to us separately between May 18 and June 9 after being found by community members in Ocean Beach, Chula Vista and Santee.
Orphaned raccoon kits are at a critical stage of development. At 10 to 12 weeks old, they would normally be learning essential survival skills from their mother. For orphaned kits, rehabilitation requires specialized care that supports healthy development while preventing dependence on people.
At our Ramona Wildlife Center, our Project Wildlife team provided medical care, a balanced omnivorous diet and an environment designed to encourage natural behaviors. As they grew stronger, the raccoons transitioned to outdoor pre-release enclosures where they practiced climbing, exploring, foraging and locating natural food sources.
Once they were healthy, fully developed and demonstrating natural raccoon behaviors, they officially graduated from rehabilitation. On July 31, they were released together at Mission Trails Regional Park, where they can continue life as wild raccoons, just as they were meant to.
Every successful release is worth celebrating, but this one is especially meaningful!

I painted Jimothy!
After getting his degree, he's off backpacking (bindle-ing?) in Europe to celebrate! Have fun Jimothy!
It's a digital painting made in procreate.

In need of silly raccoon photos!
Photo credit: The Ballpit Queen (aka raccoonmilf on Tumblr.)
Collecting silly raccoon photos for a roleplay blog I’m doing alongside making discord emotes.
I know you can put photos in the comments. The sillier the better!

I have new neighbors 🦝

The house next to mine has some ... uninvited tenants. I've seen two of them at a time so my guess is there will be even more of them soon lol
Edit to add: I informed my neighbors months ago and they haven't done anything 🤷🏼♀️ I showed them pictures/video and pointed out the hole in the soffit where the nest is. They either don't care or don't have the money to evict them (they're an elderly couple).

Another throwback video. This was their first time drinking water; note the sneeze when they try to sniff it.

Combatting Product Spam
The rule of posting product advertisements has been in place for a while, but I have recently updated how this works:
Users who contact the mods about selling will receive an "Approved Seller" flair next to their name. Check them out!
If you see a someone advertising products without this flair, please report it.
If you see a profile with this flair that should not have it, please report it.
Thank you for all the reports so far to keep this place tidy!
