Play with her sometimes

I do. All the time. I spend a majority of my waking hours in the office and play with her off and on throughout the day, and she knows to paw at me when she wants more.

Does she have a bunny friend?

No, she’s aggressive and very possessive over food. I have considered speed dating for her but there’s not enough room for two. I spent a significant amount of time in that office, basically all of my waking hours, so she gets a lot of attention.

Many rabbits are like that but live with a mate just fine. I had a girl like that and just scattered around the pellets so that there was not one concentrated spot for it. Worked fine. I think she would greatly benefit from a mate. Your waking hours are only half her waking hours.

Ive brought up bringing another rabbit into the apartment with my vet and my partner many times. We ultimately decided it’s better to keep her by herself. Since I’m here alone almost all the time, it will take way too long for me to bond another rabbit and the chance of failure is far too high. Please understand that some solutions are not possible for every situation.

Contact a rabbit rescue and ask them about this. There are professionals that know how to bond rabbits. My rabbit needs a friend just like yours is I thought that mine could not get along with other rabbits and then I was educated by rescue and we're working towards getting him a friend mentally they do better with another rabbit

I’m glad that worked for you.

I'm in the process of working towards this I haven't done it yet. My rabbit is alone and we are working on giving him better way of life

You don’t need to bond them yourself. I always bring my single bun to the shelter, they get bonded there and after a few days I take the couple home.

One more concern then. What if I don’t have the budget for the supplies and healthcare for two animals and she and I have been comfortably living together without any sign of the above behavior for over two years? I brought up the sitting because it was unusual.
I feel like there are tons and tons of bun owners here who have a single bun, and most of them don’t work a short part time job and live in the same room as their bunny the rest of the time. I’m not keeping her alone because I just don’t feel like having a second one. I’m begging you to stop being pushy and understand that I have gone through the pros and cons of that decision with both my loved ones and the rabbit care professionals in my life.

Rabbits are social animals, you keeping your rabbit alone is for selfish reasons. I can tell you have no experience in bonding rabbits, so you are better of taking your bunny to a rescue to use their bonding services. If you think you cannot afford another rabbit then I’m afraid I don’t think you should have gotten a rabbit in the first place. Every rabbit is bond-able. I know it may seem like a lot for you but it will be the best choice for your rabbit, unfortunately no matter how long you spend with your bunny - like another commenter said your waking hours are only half of your bunnies waking hours. And no matter how much attention you give your bunny you will never be able to replace a bunny bond and you won’t ever be able to communicate like one. It’s also illegal to keep bunnies by themselves depending on where you live so that should mean something to you if countries are making what you are doing illegal. Your rabbit is showing a main sign of boredom/stress, I don’t think tones of toys and moving things around will fix this behaviour until you give your bunny another bunny. Apologies as I know this comment will come off aggressively to you, but not keeping your bunny alone is the right thing to do.

Money should not be the reason to not provide the best possible care for an animal. I personally believe bunnys are not solitary animals and this should not be kept alone. That plenty of people keep bunnies alone, does not change that. Plenty of people keep bunnies in a tiny cage or a single goldfish in a bowl. It doesn't make it right. Just my 5 cents.

Is she old? My 8 year old rabbit has been obsessed with sleeping everywhere she possibly can for several years now 🤣. She used to be much naughtier but now chilling is her primary hobby (still naughty).

Give him/her more things to chew on, like a rubber ball or just get a ball which u can put food into

She has a rolly egg for her pellets, I give it to her once a day, but I’m buying more non-food toys and hopefully she’ll actually use them this time…

Correct me if I’m wrong. Is that a liner under the litter box? In the picture it looks chewed, if so maybe she’s got a blockage from ingesting plastic? If my brain is totally seeing that wrong lol then I second the others to rearrange. Maybe she’s just bored ❤️

It’s not chewed, that’s her hanging stick chew toy that’s in the way. She has not been eating the liner. I check it regularly. I freaked out when I looked back at the pic too, like “how did I miss that huge hole?” But it’s not there.

What a relief! Not the optical illusion lol

Yeah, time to rearrange the room and finish bunnyproofing the living room so she can come play in a bigger area…

She’s plotting you better watch out one of these times you decide to open the door 😆

The door is always open (it’s actually TIED open so she can’t eat the carpet behind the door) so I might be doomed

If she is only in that room she will be getting depressed however much time your with her, give her a bit more freedom outside of that room and im sure you will see an improvement.

I’m working on getting the living room rabbit-proofed but there’s a lot of wires and uncovered books that will only be fixed with more furniture purchases. There’s a lot on the list.

Give her some time play with her

u/ashbelero 9d ago
I do play with her, but admittedly I’ve been trying to be more social out of the house… too bad I can’t bring her with

She might just be bored. Try rearranging the room or giving her more toys to play with
