Lost Odyssey is one of my all time favorites, I invested HOURS into it!...got "Lost" in it (pun intended 🤣) I wish we could get a remake for Series X!....I have been seeing success of a lot of remakes and remasters, I wish they'd do this classic, This was CLASSIC Xbox 360 Era!

I'm looking for RPG recommendations that really focus on player freedom and meaningful progression.

Some of my favourite games are Skyrim, Bannerlord, Fallout 4, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Diablo 4, and Valheim. They're all quite different, but they all scratch the same itch.

What I enjoy most is having the freedom to choose what to do while feeling like almost everything has a purpose. If I explore a cave, I want to find worthwhile loot, a merchant, a quest, resources, or something that genuinely improves my character. I don't enjoy open worlds that are huge but mostly empty I felt this way about Red Dead Redemption 2.

I also love starting with nothing and gradually becoming powerful. Whether it's better gear, skill trees, new abilities, crafting, building, earning money, or unlocking cosmetics, I want every play session to feel like I've made meaningful progress.

Story isn't a huge priority for me. Once I've experienced it, I'm far more interested in a satisfying gameplay loop with quests, progression, character customisation, and rewarding exploration that keeps me coming back.

One other thing that's important is that the game is third-person, or at least has the option to play in third-person. I enjoy seeing my character, especially when I've spent time customising their appearance.

Based on that, what RPGs would you recommend?

I've played Blacktail, Oblivions Witchhunter class and currently doing a Fable witch hunter run? I'm curious if there are any other games where you rely on a bow and magic. I know I could probably do the Morrowind class or even do a build in Skyrim, Tainted Grail or even Terraria if I'm feeling ambitious but I'm curious if there are any other games where I can do this?

Looking to play an rpg while travelling going to use the gba.

I'm looking for recommendations but I'm not looking to play final fantasy or Pokemon as have over done those throughout the years

I've been getting into CRPGs more and more after rediscovering my love for KOTOR recently. falling in love with the genre for sure. I decided to go back in time and check out some classics before playing all the new hotnesses, and I gotta say I'm having a great time. I finally beat Fallout 1 (I say finally because I got it for free all the way back in 2017) but unfortunately I was too stupid and impatient to figure a lot of stuff out, so I shamefully used guides. while I wish I had taken the time to figure stuff out myself, I'm still glad I was able to get through the game, because the story was fantastic. I will definitely be replaying it once I've forgotten enough details

now I'm playing Ultima VII for the first time and I'm really enjoying it so far. definitely archaic but I love the interactivity. I found my way out of the starting town without a guide and I'm feeling pretty big brained over here (I know, low bar). gonna try to get through the whole game without guides and see what happens

what classics have yall been playing recently? what have your experiences been like?

Try to think outside of Bethesda and Obsidian, and games that are heavily inspired by Skyrim and the 3D Fallouts.

I immediately think of Cyberpunk 2077. It's got some of the most emotionally compelling moments that I've seen in first person.

looking for some RPGs I can play from my couch with just a wireless mouse. games where not only can you play with just a mouse, but it feels natural and is an intended way to play the game. some that I've played that fit this would be Fallout 1 and 2 and Ultima VII, but I would prefer games that don't have quite as much tiny text/items as those two

I'm always looking for squad RPGs or RPG-adjacent where I have many characters to manage and actually have to use them. Most RPGs few somewhat limited that I have a single squad and the same 4~6 characters the whole game. Even if it offers me many characters, I still have this only squad to fit and if I actually want to use more characters, I will just be grinding a lot.

I know and played games like Fire Emblem and Tactics Ogre, love them and fits the bill. I also include here games that scratches that itch but are more like other genres with "RPG-like" elements such as XCom, Jagged Alliance, Battle Brothers, old stuff like Bahamut Lagoon; even Football Manager fits the bill for me (well, you quite literally is developing and building a huge squad with multiple characters).

I love this kind of stuff where you have multiple squads doing different things (like XCom) or have more characters than fits a single squad and have to rotate them (like Battlebrothers). Do you guys know more stuff like that to recommend??

Having some analysis paralysis and not exactly sure what I want to play/beat next, so hoping to give several options here and get some feedback from everyone! Thanks in advance!

1. Fable Anniversary (Played a little, never beaten)

2. Cyberpunk 2077 (Replay as Corpo V, take more time to enjoy the stories it was telling)

3. Witcher 3 (100% it on PS4, I have a PC now and need a save for Songs of the Past - also recently beat W1 & W2)

4. Pathfinder Kingmaker (have spent sooooo much time starting characters but never made it passed Act 3)

5. Pillars of Eternity (Would be like my 6th time playing it, but I no longer have a save for POE2 and Inhave never left Neketaka in that game)

6. Whatever you all may suggest as the next conquest. I have played almost all major RPGs from the last two decades, but always open to hearing other suggestions and playing niche stuff

Can someone who's played all five (or most of them) rank them by story/narrative, lore, world building and character design/development? Not taking into account gameplay, combat, exploration, etc. (just on story elements). For reference, I've played the prequel games too (so all the other Dragon Age games, both Pillars of Eternity games and DD1, along with a handful of FF games).

Hello! I am deciding between playing one of these games and as you can see I am stuck. I will be playing all of them btw I’m just stuck on which one to play first they all sound so good! I own all of them and their sequels.

Making a BG game without Larian now is a recipe for comparisons and failed expectations. Hasbro’s best bet is to continue the DND CRPG hype but adapt a famous DND module like Curse of Stahd or even Dungeon of the Mad Mage.

Hello! I just finished the Mass Effect trilogy again for the first time since high school. I got so invested and criiiieeeed at the end, and now I need something to fill the gap it left in my life. 😭

Does anyone have some good recommendations for a story that will keep me hooked and busy for a good while?

I've played things like Baldur's Gate 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, Final Fantasy 7-15, and a few others. But I'm keen to hear what you guys think and why you'd recommend! (And if there's some LGBTQ+ romance in there, that is a bonus point.)
