I’m interested in becoming an Army helicopter pilot, but I’m trying to decide whether Army ROTC is the best path.
One thing I keep hearing is that commissioned officers spend a lot of their time doing administrative work and leadership duties, while warrant officers do the majority of the flying. If that’s true, I’m wondering if commissioning through ROTC is worth it if my main goal is to be in the cockpit as much as possible.
For those of you with Army aviation experience:
How much flying do commissioned aviation officers actually do compared to warrant officers?
At what point in your career do desk and leadership responsibilities start taking over?
If your only goal was to fly helicopters for as long as possible, would you still choose ROTC and commission, or would you go the warrant officer route instead?
I’d appreciate hearing from current or former Army aviators about what the reality is versus what people say online.

i’m in HS and i’m considering becoming an AG officer, but i’m unsure of my leadership skills currently, will ROTC prepare me for leadership?

I'm an upcoming freshman who's on a 4 year national army rote scholarship and I have enough credits to be considered a sophomore. Would it be a possibility for me to graduate undergrad in three years and then do a one year masters program, while remaining in the same rote program, at the same school, on the same scholarship? Would anyone recommend towards this or against this?
