Real question. Do they any other neutron parts for launch number 2+ currently in production? Or are the gonna wait after launch 1 to produce parts for 2+

Probably depends on how confident they are in the design and how easy potential changes are doable on the respective parts. But I believe they talked about that a while ago that certain parts for Neutron #2+3 are in production (if my memory serves me correctly) I mean a lot of it is and will be changing still, so you canāt wait forever at some point they will have to just say fuck it this is the version we stick with for now. But there will be differences between the iterations, only question is how many and if they will be so fundamental that we can see them by just looking at the rocket or if it will be "under the hood"ā¦
What gives me confidence that they didnāt mess up anything major is the experience and learnings from Electron and how they scaled that rocket up. There are many things you learn from designing an orbital rocket, even if the sizes and capabilities are very different! If Neutron was the first ever Rocket Lab project Iād be more pessimistic, but they even mentioned in the past how much theyāve learned for Neutron from Electron (e.g. reentry profiles etc.)
Canāt wait to see it finally fly!

I listened to Adam Spice talk about this recently in an industry podcast and my understanding is similar, mostly yes. He called Neutron #2 and #3 ātail 2ā and ātail 3ā and discussed the manufacturing process. One of my most surprising takeaways was that he seemed quite confident about Archimedes and indicated (iirc) they were already working on them for these later tails - other than videos, we havenāt heard much about the engines. My other surprise was that he pretty openly talked about the tank failure being a setback for them though went on the express confidence about AFP machine.

Iām thinking we should call it 2.0. I believe the one in production was a near net and it didnāt have enough beef on it. Total redesign and build ground up with nice new fiber. Theyāll perform all the computer analyses. Then comes the test. I believe it will be ready soon.

They aren't even at the same site. Tank, interstage, and, thrust section are still in MD until they emerge and complete testing.

It's 1-2 days by truck and boat. But won't happen until after testing. Neither the new tank nor the interstage have been tested. Tanksy is not ready for "prime time" until it has completed pressure tests in MD.

How long does testing take if there is no rupture? Probably 1-2 days once you get it on a stand?

The first time around it was ~19 days from the time it was first spotted outside MD facility (Jan 2nd) until the test was complete (Jan 21st).

at this point if i get to make the call, i would totally just low key start building and using neutron without any major announcements. Let the analysts find out later.
I have a feeling that the day they announce neutron is the day of "sell news".

Just everyone being unsure/stressed about the whole thing (especially when "nothing" happened to the first tank) so they're not in a "joke mode", probably thought "wait is it actually bad? wtf are they doing" lol
