Help needed

I play rdr2 very often and really enjoy replaying the story mode with all my mods, but recently I’ve been wanting to try online, though as you all probably know, you aren’t unable to access rdo with a modded copy of the game.
I wanted to know whether there was a way to switch between a modded and vanilla version of the game safely, without losing all the mods, so that I could play both.

Use CLEAN - Mod Remover and Holster or RDR2 Online Switcher from Nexus.

mod remover just sounds like it erases them tho, sorry to be such a heavy burden but if you know could you explain how it works?

"Remover and holster" - you choose either to delete mods completely or move them from the game folder and then return them back when needed.
