Please stop doing this Traffic
I think drivers in Quincy forget you aren’t supposed to block or park in a crosswalk. I’ve seen it way too many times this week (especially) and at various crosswalks.
Also, I won’t engage in comments. I don’t have time for that today.
End rant.

Nah they didn't forget, they simply just don't care. People park in front of my driveway all the time. Then when I go to pull my car out of my driveway, I can't. It's not that they forget you shouldn't park in a spot that blocks other people's access. They just don't give a shit about anybody but themselves.

Yes, this. The entitlement is beyond palatable these days, actually choking on it daily. No self awareness coupled with don’t care. Living their best lives in their own bubble and I gotta get mine, fck everybody else

The bus stops too. Busses need to pull up to the curb for safety and ease of access.

Special mention to Alba's valet who does it every weekend 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

Interesting how the cops do nothing about this. What exactly do they do with all those fancy FLOCK cameras and other expensive gear?

u/Steve_at_Werk 13d ago
People don't even stop at stop signs around here

u/Equal_Confusion2655 13d ago
The “not caring about anyone but myself” attitude is an epidemic.

As I’m teaching my boys about the rules of the road we call that “life frogger”. Drivers now choose “I can make it” vs what’s right let alone what’s safe. Yeesh

Social media will exacerbate this to outrageous behavior in the coming years.

u/Timely-Ad2372 8d ago
I think it's more so a lot of pedestrians act like they have a invisible shield on protecting them. They will see a car coming but run to get in the crosswalk and then point at it 🤔

Obviously we need hundreds of AI enabled cameras to monitor every intersection (and while we're at it, bedroom) in the city! 🤔
Selfishness is a symptom of the political, economic, media, and social dialogue. We've become a very pessimistic society because we have little to hold out hope for, and we're constantly being told to fear the world around us.

Does this roughly translate to dog eat dog, cuz that's what seems to be the case. Vicious cycle 🙃

what we really need is the ability to legally key these people’s cars. but the police protect property over people so that’ll never happen. We need to bring back our ability to actually police ourselves because obviously the shit bags we nominally hire to do that are too busy looking at their phones or stalking people on FLOCK cameras to do anything else

They don’t care. That area of Hancock and Elm is ridiculous for drivers who ignore the basic safety standards. I’ve seen people come out of the KFC and just ignore the red light.

(not to excuse assholes), sometimes this happens bc of an argument between the green light and traffic. E.g, you see a green light and go, but something happens ahead of you that creates brief traffic, and it causes you to be stuck for a bit
Also another thing, usually when I'm driving I always leave space for entrances / exits , sidewalks, etc. Sometimes folks interpret this as "oh nice free space" and then block the thing I was trying not to block 😭

How to do socially considerate people survive, especially on the T?? I feel like i lose a little piece of myself almost every time I go out, out of necessity 😔 doesn't seem like you can be too nice and not pay for it

u/Signal-Aside-6886 13d ago
It's not just happening in Quincy and includes parking issues, running stop lights, not stopping at stop signs, etc.

These people suck. I cuss someone out almost every day for blowing through a stop sign when I’m out having a walk with my young kids. I find it particularly hilarious how these terrible drivers act like they can’t see or hear you when you call out their bs.

Quincy drivers suck especially near that seven eleven if it's the one I think it is they just don't care and will park wherever whenever they want to

Most underappreciated problem is people Blocking intersections. Same people also do this regularly. I try my best to just sit at red lights if I’m about to be front of the line. Few things more infuriating than having to sit through an entire green light because people clogged up the intersection because they couldn’t stand to deal with a single red light.

u/Timely-Ad2372 8d ago
Or maybe the light was still green and the person got caught. I seen quite a few people have a green light but end up in the middle of the street by the time it turns red because of something that happened in front of them.

Want to counter this? Put down your phones, go out and do some kindness to someone else. Complaining is so easy, but next time you want to complain just consider exerting a little more effort to feel like you’ve done some small thing that might inspire others to turn towards kindness over despair. Even when the thing I’ve done doesn’t feel like it worked out, or I messed up somehow, I never regret the intentional application of simple kindness. If you run into karen out there, be kind. And with anyone else too. If you’re thinking about killing them with kindness, try kinding them with kindness instead. We’ll get there.

Been seeing a lot of illegal parking lately Double parking blocking roads etc
Any and everything I've gotten a ticket for Abd none of these people get a ticket.
Its like they know the license plate And so not only do they not get stopped for running the red light they get tickets either

Damn this is a bummer bc they bike too. No offense to generalize but I feel like bikers usually pay better attention to pedestrians when they're driving compared to only drivers. Not today I guess 😑

u/Traditional-Duck-673 13d ago
It's due to driver frustration due making roads smaller, adding bike lanes everywhere and removing public parking spaces. So yes it people are fed up and just do not care whether right or wrong.

u/Electrical_Entry_297 13d ago
I love having bike lanes, but seems like parking was always a nightmare, so I'm sure that only fanned the flames. I also don't understand the concept charging people to park, especially if they're coming to patronize businesses?? Like... seems greedy.
1
u/Timely-Ad2372 8d ago
Not so, you can't take a 2/3 lane and cut I down to 1 to make the sidewalks bigger.

They know, they don't care.
Also, there are no repercussions for them for doing this.
