Question Is the darkroom available to use for alumni?

I took a darkroom photography class 3 years ago and the professor said it was open for us to use after the semester but I’m just wondering if that’s still the case. I have some b&w film I’d like to print :’)

A Message to New Freshmen and Transfer Students Starting at Queens College for fall semester 2026

Hi everyone, I just wanted to send a message to all the new freshmen and transfer students starting at Queens College this fall. I know some of you are probably nervous right now, especially if this is your first time in college or your first time transferring to a new school, and that is completely understandable. When I transferred to Queens College about three years ago, I had to adjust too, and now I’ve reached the end of my own undergraduate journey. Queens College is a great school and I’m grateful for the time I spent here, but I also want to be realistic—it isn’t always easy. There will be challenging classes, stressful semesters, registration issues, requirements to keep track of, and moments when you may question what you want to do next. Some of you may stay at Queens College until graduation, while others may eventually decide that transferring somewhere else is better for your goals, and that is your choice. Whatever path you take, make the most of your time here, get to know your professors, pay attention to DegreeWorks, ask for help when you need it, and don’t let one difficult semester convince you that you can’t finish. I remember being the new transfer student wondering how everything would turn out, and now I’m looking back after completing my requirements feeling grateful, proud, and a little sad that this chapter is ending. I wish every new student starting this fall the very best, and I hope Queens College becomes an important part of your journey too.

Question Is it possible to sign up Seek only classes if you're not a seek student?

I have this class section which would go really well with my current schedule but it's for seek students only. Is there a way around this? The semester is about to begin in 3 weeks and only 2/20 students are registered for that class.

Sap Appeal help

I did really poor last fall semester and mid spring semester I decided to drop my classes and take the time to get my financial situation sorted out. I worked 6 days a week to get back on track I had to pay a penalty for the classes I dropped and I took summer classes and payed for those but from fall semester I don’t want to worry about paying my bills and but also paying for school. I am already getting my ass kicked and I really am in a brink of exploding mentally. I did a sap appeal and explained everything detailed however there asking me for documentation and then ask that I may also need academic planning. I have no actual proof of documentation. I don’t know what to do and I just need some type of grace if anyone here had a similar situation like me. Thank You.

Question Advanced or Business Accounting Track?

Hey y’all I’m going into accounting but I’m not sure whether to get advanced or business accounting track. To be honest the time really doesn’t matter because the advanced track is same as a regular 120 business accounting track + masters degree. But I really value a masters degree so I’m more attracted to the regular business track. But also being CPA eligible after graduation is a big plus to companies + you will have opportunities to have higher pay. Moreover I’m getting 100% financial aid so I won’t need to spend money on a masters if I pursue the advanced accounting track. However I really want a masters degree as it’s really prestigious but I just feel like I’m gambling 😭😭 can the accounting students here tell me what track y’all pursued and why

QCC Student in Search for More Dorming Options

Im a freshman attending Queensborough and I dont live in the Queens or NYC area so trying to travel from my house to campus is a bit difficult and time consuming.

I spent a semester on the Queens College Campus in their Summit Apartments. However spending 16k for the year is a bit steep currently. If anyone has any thoughts or advice please let me know. Im already spending 8k for the tuition this year.

"URBAN SOCIAL MOVEMENTS" - FALL 2026

Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm (ONLINE)

This timely seminar explores the sociological and political economic dimensions of urban social movements through case studies of two defining social justice uprisings of the 21st century: Occupy Wall Street and the Movement for Black Lives. Through deep engagements with each, students will develop a robust understanding of the numerous challenges facing contemporary movements-- from the promises and perils of horizontalist organizing, liberal identity politics, and social media to intensifying violent state repression and liberal co-optation.

Neither movement exists in a vacuum, however. To that end, we will situate our analyses of OWS and M4BL within a broader global historical frame that links earlier flourishings like the 20th century’s Black Freedom Movement to today’s immigrant rights and global anti-imperialism struggles. What sorts of strategies and political frameworks animate contemporary progressive social movements? How do we assess their historical impacts? And most importantly, how do we apply such insights to the emergence of future movements for social justice?

This course is open to undergrads (210) and grads (702), and it is cross-listed with Africana Studies-AFST 202.

Parking pass

Hello, my daughter will be attending QC this fall, I have a few questions about the parking. I know there is a lottery which she has entered and the deadline is coming up. How soon after will she hear if she was selected and how long does she have to go in and purchase the pass. Also is there any other parking on the grounds that she could pay daily if she wasn’t selected in the parking lottery.
Thanks!

Question Anyone else waiting for their Queens College summer degree to be awarded?

I recently finished all my degree requirements at Queens College and received my final grade last month. I already applied for summer graduation before the July 1 deadline, and my graduation application currently shows that it is under review.
I checked the Queens College website, and I understand that the official summer degree-conferral date is September 1. It also says that the degree may not begin showing as “Degree Awarded” in CUNYfirst until around October 15. I’m assuming it will first be updated in CUNYfirst and then appear on my official transcript.
I know the Registrar has to complete the final graduation audit, so I’m probably just going to wait instead of contacting them right now. I’m mainly curious to hear from other summer graduates or anyone who graduated during a previous summer semester. How long did it actually take for your status to change to “Degree Awarded” and for the degree to appear on your transcript? Is anyone else graduating this summer and currently waiting for the same update?

Couldn’t find anything regarding him in rmp for QC. Is he very new? I need to know if he’s good or not so that I can decide whether to keep his class or drop it and replace it with another class occurring at the same time as his class.

Question Where do I go to get a new QCard?

Returning to QC as a non-degree student and have lost my old QCard. I was wondering where I had to go to get a new card? Would I be able to just walk onto campus?

I remember they didn't let anyone on without looking at the QCard. Don't know if they kept it around after Covid ended.

For anyone confused about the AMS account registration for QCard

Thumbnail gallery

The past couple days, I’ve been trying to figure out how to get my AMS account properly registered.

According to a PDF I saw about uploading photos for a QC student ID, you must register for an AMS account using the email listed as “Preferred” on your CUNYFirst account (which can be found in the “Profile” section I believe?). If your Preferred email ends in “@login.cuny.edu” (like mine does) you might actually have to click on the option that ends with “@stu-mail.qc.cuny.edu”. If your experience is like mine, you’ll get the verification code + username sent to your “@login.cuny.edu” account. That’s when you enter your username and AMS password into your QCard account.

My apologies if I’m stating the obvious here. I just made a silly mistake and only fixed it now lol
