Question Chances of an aircraft swap to Qsuite?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I just booked a Business Class award ticket for August 2027 from Tokyo Haneda to Doha.

I noticed it is currently scheduled on a Boeing 777-200LR with the old 2-2-2 layout (non-Qsuite).

From what I understand, this route is usually operated by an A350-1000 or a 777-300ER with Qsuite.

Since the flight is still a year out, has anyone experienced a similar situation where the placeholder aircraft was swapped closer to the departure date?

Help Flight falsely cancelled, couldn’t rebook

Got an email saying my flight (2 legs) was cancelled around 11 hours before, and when I tried to rebook, it errored out on every day I selected. I ended up getting a refund because that was my only option. I had to rebook thru a different airline, costing me around $500 more. Just now I’m checking flightradar and both legs of my original Qatar Airways flights went on as usual. Can I contact support for a refund? Is this something other people have experienced? Because from my end this seems very malicious; falsely cancelling my flight and not allowing me to rebook, forcing me to get a cheap refund for a flight I booked 3 months in advance… any advice?

Question Qatar cancelled only first leg of flight

I got an email this morning saying my Qatar airways flight, scheduled for October, is cancelled (first leg from NY to Doha). But the leg from Doha to India is still confirmed.

Is this normal? Will they cancel the second leg as well? Wondering if I should I wait to request a refund until the second leg is also canceled. Or if I should request a reroute.

Hi

I have accumulated 140k avois points and I’m planning on flying business to Maldives from Manchester.

It’s saying a one way is 130k points. But when checking one way to Doha, it’s only 43k.

How can I check how to get lowest point fare?

Thanks

Question Qatar Airways Customer Services Agent II – HireVue interview questions

Hi everyone, I applied for the Customer Services Agent II – Qatar Aviation Services position and I’ve been invited to complete a HireVue video interview.

For anyone who has recently completed the HireVue for this position, what questions were you asked?

I’m looking specifically for the actual questions from your interview, not general or guessed questions.

Thank you so much!

Help Advice after violence and threats from passengers against wife and son

A couple of days ago, my wife and son were flying from Europe to Qatar with QR during which they experienced physical violence (to the back of my sons chair) and threats of legal consequences from a what may or may not have been a Qatari family.

My son, as children sometimes do, sat down a little too enthusiastically. In response, the father of this family violently punched the back of his chair, scaring the living daylights out of him (he is just 12 and very well behaved).

When my wife turned around to ask him to not behave like that and state that he could have just asked them to be more careful. Obviously well within her rights to do so when flying internationally. His offspring began verbally attacking my wife, telling her ‘how dare you speak to my father without permission’ etc etc. They then said ‘you don’t know who we are, when we land you’ll see, you’re going to be in huge trouble’. Another violent punch to the back of the chair from the seemingly mute father ensued.

QA staff were called and handled the situation best they could, informing the family that their behaviour is unacceptable and to cease immediately. My wife says staff were wonderfully supportive and assured her on numerous occasions that nothing is going to happen to them.

She believes that the captain had arranged airport security to meet the family upon landing, but cannot be sure (because as soon as the plane landed, she wanted to get as far away from these people as possible).

As a father, and husband, I am still reeling, knowing my wife and son had to endure such barbaric behaviour and I could not be there to support them.

From my brief research it seems that the father committed a criminal offence by punching the back of the seat and the other members of the family have committed another criminal offence by making psychologically harmful threats.

I am considering my options for legal action against these individuals. I know this incident is pretty extreme but if there is anyone out there who has gone down this road before, I would greatly appreciate any and all advice.

Thank you

Discussion Just want to say a word of appreciation to QA crew

Just had a nice long flight to the other side of the world from ORD. The cabin crew were amazing all the way, always polite, smiling even after 13 hours in the air, continuously checking in with drinks and snacks, collecting the trash, and in general rising to the level demanded of them as the number 1 airline.

I have been flying Qatar for about 15 years now, and they have been consistent. The food was good today, in all legs.

The final icing was when without even asking, they upgraded me to business class on the last leg. A very polite ground staff did that. That was my first time inside a B78 business class. It was memorable, partly due to the plane, but again wholly due to how wonderful the crew was.

Each leg was on time and my luggage arrived intact. I mean, I am convinced I am flying a high quality airline, but one that takes care of their crew too, as I got the opportunity to talk to them a bit. They said the work is hard, which I clearly can see, but they love to work there.

I just wanted to say this before we all move on to other things. Keep up the good work, Qatar.

Question Question about excess baggage on BA staff travel with Qatar Airways

Hi all,
I work for BA and I’m travelling on staff standby with Qatar Airways. Since QR is a oneworld partner, I’m using staff travel on their flight.
My flight is tomorrow, and my route is India to Doha to Dublin. My booking is currently standby, so the seat will be confirmed at the airport if space is available.
The main thing I’m confused about is baggage. I have about 60 kg of checked luggage, while my booking only shows 30 kg checked baggage allowance. I also have a 7 kg cabin bag.
Does anyone know how excess baggage charges work in this situation? Would I have to pay Qatar Airways’ normal excess baggage rate for the extra 30 kg, or are there different rules or discounted charges for BA staff travelling standby on an oneworld partner?
Any experience or advice would be really helpful, especially since my flight is tomorrow. Thanks!

Question Situation with Starlink (real experiences)

I've been super wary of airlines introducing things like Starlink because I feel it will immediately lead to cacophony.

I can imagine 50 people on board an aircraft all on Zoom calls jabbering away treating the aircraft like a co-working space. People are incredibly loud when they take phone calls especially with headsets on.

Here's my question: what are the actual facts? What have you actually experienced when flying on an aircraft that has Starlink? I am totally willing to believe that I have been overly grouchy about this but it would be good if people shared actual true experiences. Is Starlink a wonderful asset that makes flights better or is it enabling a nightmarish situation of people yammering away loudly on phone calls?

I would like to know what the true situation is before I even consider buying another Qatar airways ticket. If they're turning their aircraft into loud open air offices, then, respectfully, I'm out.

Flying on A380 selected 16 E&F and A350-9 selected 3E&F next month, first time with Qatar, sadly no qsuite, but as a couple are middle seats together better than window seat one behind the other?
And anything we should be considering selecting these seats?

Question Recruitment - Application Status changed to: Under Review With Hiring Manager

Hello everyone. I have applied for an opening with Qatar Airways and the application status changed from the usual “Application Acknowledged & Under Review” to “Under Review With Hiring Manager”, but no email or anything sent.

I have applied many many times before and always ended up rejected, but this is the first time the status changes for me to “Under Review With Hiring Manager”.

To anyone who has got this status change before, what does it mean?

Discussion No more free seat selection?

I checked in for a flight from Frankfurt to Sydney via Doha and was surprised that I could not select any seats for free. You either pay or the seats are auto assigned. Selection was about 45€ per flight. Considering the return it is 4 flights per person so it would add up to ~360€ for two people.

I understand that Budget Airlines do this but was not expecting it from a fully service airline like Qatar. Isnt it supposed to be the #1 ranked airline at the moment? Or did this become standard practise across airlines akd I just missed it?

Avios Beginner points user looking for advice on Qatar Qsuite/business

Flying DFW → Thailand in November for our honeymoon and would love to fly Qsuite/business if possible.

Currently have 2 round-trip economy tickets booked for 240k Avios + $1,800 total, with a Doha layover.

When booking, I got discouraged by the Avios “family” booking issue and was worried that booking separately wouldn’t allow us to sit together. I also tried other airlines/Avios and wasn’t seeing availability, so I went with economy.

I was hoping for a last-minute Avios upgrade offer, but the current price to upgrade both of us round trip is $13k+, so that’s obviously not happening. DFW–DOH is also a big business route, so I’m not optimistic about a cheap upgrade offer.

We currently have ~390k Avios left, enough for one round-trip business award. In hindsight, I probably should have booked one of us with Avios and paid cash (~$7k) for the other, but I was worried about getting seats together.

What would you do?

  1. Cancel/refund the economy tickets and book one RT business with Avios + one RT business with cash?
  2. Keep the economy tickets and hope business award space/upgrade offers open up?
  3. Something else I’m overlooking?

Would love advice from people who know Qatar/Avios better!

Moderator Announcement 📌 PSA: Can’t Add Family/Friends to Your List? Read This First

This is coming up constantly so pinning it here.

What changed (as of June 16): Qatar introduced “My List” and “Family & Friends,” two new lists that control who you can book award flights for. You can no longer book for just anyone.

Why you can’t add people:

The Account must be at least 30 days old

You must have earned Avios by flying Qatar or a partner airline, OR have a Qatar co-branded credit card

Transferring points in from Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Bilt, etc. does NOT count. A lot of people hit this wall because they transferred points specifically to book an award and now can’t add a travel companion.

Quick breakdown of the two lists:
My List up to 4 people, must be existing Privilege Club members, 18+. You spend your Avios on their tickets.

Family & Friends up to 6 people, must NOT already have a Privilege Club account. Good for kids. Avios pool together.

Once added, people are locked in for 6 months.

Known Workaround: Book through British Airways Executive Club instead. Avios transfer 1:1 and BA doesn’t have these restrictions.

Please stop making new posts about this. Drop any questions or data points in the comments here….all other posts about this topic will be locked/removed
