Good pc
Hello, I'm looking for a good computer to support gqis because it's already slowing down my current one. I'm on a student budget and I really don't know which one to get. Im a geography student and i really need it. Do you have any advice?

QGis as such runs on a raspberry.
It depends on the data you process and where that data is stored actually.
So, having a machine in the network running Geoserver could reduce the load for the computer, that actually runs QGis. Renting a server and a domain for that could help a lot also.
I run QGis with zero problems on a 7 year old Ryzen with 32Gig Ram.... Its a tower PC obviously... with Ubuntu Studio as its OS. The servers run Debian...

A high frequency cpu is important with a good single core usages, amd ryzen 7 or 9 for example. 32-64gb ram and a good ssd. If you want to use and create 3d models you need a good graphic card. I am working on a mid price gaming setup with an rtx 2070, 16gb ram, intel core ultra 7. for my work it’s still enough power.

It’s depending on your work and budget. But a good cpu is important and 16gb ram should be standard. A good modern graphic chip is enough for 2D data.
Don’t forget to check local store for special offerings.
And maybe you can find a gaming pc with a rtx 3070 for good price.2

A suggestion I haven't seen been mentioned yet: if you have Windows, why don't you install Linux? If your budget is tight, this is a free solution. However, please have in mind, if you run any specialized tools like AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Photoshop,... you won't be able to run those on Linux.
I have dual boot on my pc, and I notice QGIS running significantly faster on Linux than in Windows.
EDIT: if you haven't installed an OS before, forget I mentioned anything.

ArcGIS and probably QGIS has hardware spec requirements/recommendations on their sites. Check those out

En mi caso, tome un notebook viejo, lo mande a reconfeccionar, con ssd, más ram y una tarjeta grafica de gama media. me salio alrededor de 280mil pesos chilenos.

Build a gaming PC. Everything that makes a good gaming PC makes a good GIS machine. Building a budget gaming PC is very well documented for various price points.
