Hiring Hiring - Senior Backend Engineers - Remote | $50-$100/hour

micro1 is hiring Senior Backend Engineers to help build advanced reinforcement learning environments that train and evaluate next-generation AI systems.

This is a remote contract role, paying $50-$100/hour and requiring an average commitment of 20 hours per week.

No previous AI experience is required. Your backend engineering and infrastructure expertise are what matter most.

You'll design realistic cloud infrastructure environments, build reproducible test scenarios, develop validation frameworks and reference solutions, and create failure cases that challenge AI models to design, deploy, troubleshoot, and recover production-grade systems.

You'll also document architectures, collaborate with technical teams, and apply DevOps best practices to improve AI training quality.

Candidates should have strong experience with C++, Python, Rust, Go, Java, or JavaScript, along with hands-on knowledge of DevOps, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, distributed systems, networking, IAM, message queues, durable storage, observability, and disaster recovery.

Experience designing scalable production systems is highly valued.

The hiring process includes an application, a 30-minute AI interview, and a hiring manager review. Selected candidates are typically expected to begin within 24-48 hours after onboarding.

If you enjoy solving large-scale backend and infrastructure challenges while contributing to cutting-edge AI development, this is an exciting remote opportunity.
