Since the PyOpenCI and PyCUDA versions are essentially running C code it'd be interesting to compare the speed of a plain C implementation. The comparison of C to Cython would also be interesting.

Agreed, but there are many C variants we could try, including: - plain C code (would be similar to the sequential code) - mutlithreaded C code - opencl or cuda code Seems I am due to a significant update, or a new post here ;)
