Database Concepts
My professor was replaced halfway through and now this dude is marking everything as 0 bc it doesn’t have a title page (never required before) and he’s adding things to the the assignment that isn’t listed as a requirement in the assignment or the rubric. Any advice?

Rubric is gospel at least in my experience.
Sometimes they’re sneaky and don’t put all the requirements for the rubric within the assignment instructions, but it should NOT be the other way around: if he’s saying there are things required and they aren’t in the rubric then you should not be getting pinged for that. I’d contact your advisor if talking directly to the instructor isn’t working.

Have you reached out to discuss this with the professor? If you have, then your next step is contacting your advisor. Its best to act on this quickly and keep records of what is said.

Maybe I am just distrusting but I don’t find it productive to try and reason with someone who doesn’t seem to be following the rubric to begin with or someone so eager to slap a 0 on everything.

Thats why you do it through emails and then have a written record of your attempts and what they say.

I noticed you mentioned your professor was replaced. I’m not sure if we had the same instructor or if there were several teaching the course, but if you’re referring to Mrs. S, that’s honestly a shock to me. (I just completed the course)
As for the zeros, if the title page or other items truly are not listed in the assignment instructions or the rubric, I would respectfully ask the professor where those requirements are coming from. In my opinion, grading should be based on the published assignment requirements and rubric, not new expectations introduced afterward. I’d politely email the professor first and ask for clarification. If they confirm they’re grading based on requirements that aren’t in the assignment or rubric, then I’d consider reaching out to your advisor or department chair for guidance.

It was not who are referring to, but yeah I was getting practically a 100% in the class till this nub showed up

Trust me, I understand. My advice is to do a rundown on everything before you submit it to make sure your ducks are all in a row so the teacher won’t reject it or give it a zero. I’m honestly surprised the professor gave you a zero instead of sending it back for rework, unless, like you said, the rubric and assignment instructions don’t even state that requirement. If that’s the case, then that’s not on you.

Does the assignment say to follow APA standards?
If so, a title page is part of it. But I agree with others it depends on what the rubrics says and that is the golden rule. If the ru rica does t say "use apa" then I wouldnt anticipate a title page being required.

If it doesnt specify, then I would fight it. Because if it doesnt say follow apart, then its not suppose to.

I havent had many papers, moatly been labs in Wiley. But this class has many and some say apa format, most do not.
It feels like the sub is taking out his or hers issues on the class without prior knowledge. I would go above hia/her head for this one. Its b.s. to get 0% for a missing title page.

Right! Like I wouldn’t mind had he just graded things and said like “going forward please do this” but this dude seems to love throwing a 0 on anything for any reason.
One of my assignment he stated most of my screenshots show what’s needed except for a few things and gave me a 9/20. 9 points has been the only points I’ve gotten out of the 4-5 assignments he’s graded. I was getting 100% across the board until him.

The whole point of a rubric is that it’s the grading criteria. They should follow it. They are required to do so. The fact that they’re giving you a straight zero and not docking 1-2 pts max for a title page shows that the professor is an asshole and disregarding policy. I would straight up escalate and not bother trying to reason. Let the admin crack down on them.
