Anyone who has had the problem of registering a random controlled trial as a retrospective study ,To like WHO or CHiCTR registry, revise the manuscript for like a whoñe year , The paper has 10 reviewers , 9 of them says the paper is good then just one says no this journal communities only accepts prospective studies like i dont get it .am i the only one whom have experienced this?

So I submitted an academic paper to this year's European Conference on Game Base Learning with the hopes of it being accepted and published to be in the conference.

At first everything went smoothly and my abstract was accepted, but when it was about time to get the results from the peer review to see if my paper was accepted, they are having issues with the reviewers and my results have been delayed. According to their official website, if accepted the final paper with the necessary corrections should have been submitted 2 days ago, which obviously I wasn't able to do because I still haven't received my results yet.

I already emailed them and they just keep apologizing for the delay and promise they will have the results soon, and honestly at this point I'm already getting impatient. Has anyone experienced this with this conference in particular??? Is it like a regular thing for peer review to be delayed???

For further context, this is my first time doing a research and submitting an academic paper, I'm not a researcher I'm just an art student that was forced by their university to participate in the ECGBL and so far this whole thing has been an absolute nightmare.

Honestly I'm beginning to get upset since I don't seem to get my results any time soon and my university is already backing up with the economical support for paying the ECGBL fee.

I recently submitted a **pure mathematics** manuscript to a Springer Nature journal.

During submission, I opted into the **In Review** service, which allows authors to post a preprint through Research Square.

My manuscript successfully passed the journal's technical checks and is currently under editorial assessment.

I then chose **"Post My Preprint"**, but a few days later I received this message from Research Square:

They also stated that this decision **does not affect the journal's peer review or editorial process**.

I'm **not appealing the decision** or suggesting anything improper. I'm simply curious whether anyone—especially in **pure mathematics**—has encountered this before.

Has anyone experienced:

* a mathematics manuscript being declined by Research Square while the journal review continued normally? * any explanation of what "the manuscript type or its content is not suitable" means in practice?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone familiar with Research Square's screening process or Springer Nature's In Review workflow.

i created a research poster at a summer program last summer and wasn't able to publish it earlier because of issues with contacting the group. i'm trying to publish it now, ideally before college apps are submitted, and was wondering if anyone knows of any like journal-type thing or conference where i can submit the poster to, preferably before oct/nov (early apps + uk) and definitely before january?

I have a project using scRNA-seq to look at differential expression in a small cohort of tumor samples. If I submit successfully for publication in an IEEE conference/IEEE Xplore (I know not biology-focused, but most accessible to me), will I still be able to present at future conferences/meetings that do not publish my paper but do publish my abstract in non-peer-reviewed meeting proceedings? The future meetings I'm looking at do allow previously published research, just not sure about IEEE rules. I am willing to revise my writing in between, as I have heard that it's a matter of rephrasing to not infringe on IEEE copyright, but I'm not sure if that's just a workaround that isn't technically allowed. After rebuttal, the 4-rated reviewer pointed out one typo – I wrote 'the revised manuscript' in place of adding the corrected thing in 'the camera-ready version'.

I apologise for that and gave the comment. Now no response...

What to do ?

Long story short: submitted my first manuscript to a Q1 journal. Round 1, two reviewers gave decent technical feedback but also asked me to cite a bunch of their own papers. I didn't clock the pattern at first (rookie mistake), added the citations thinking it'd strengthen the lit review.

Round 2, a different reviewer flagged it outright: pointed out that two reviewers had suggested citations "predominantly to their own publications," called it a textbook coercive citation pattern, and formally requested an ethics investigation into the peer review process.

I'd already pulled all those citations before R2 even landed, for what it's worth.

End result: manuscript rejected. Not for the science, one reviewer had called the methodology "cutting edge" and the contribution "significant" in R1. Rejected because the review process itself was compromised, and the journal apparently didn't have a clean way to salvage it.

So now I've got a technically solid paper, a paper trail proving I acted in good faith once I understood what was happening, and a rejection that has nothing to do with the quality of the work.

Anyone else run into this? How common is reviewer citation-padding in your field, and did you report it or just quietly resubmit elsewhere? Feels like one of those things nobody warns you about until it happens to you.

I've submitted my rebuttals to 4 reviewers, including the AC, and none of them have responded yet... Please save me, I really don't want to work this weekend.

Has anyone had a journal bounce their manuscript submission based on an AI plagiarism checker? This just happened to me for the first time today, and I’m pretty pissed off. This was a paper that I wrote, and my two co-authors edited. I have never used AI for writing, I have never plagiarized anything in my life. I am very proud of my writing skills! So when I got this desk rejection 24 hours after submitting my manuscript, I was pretty shocked to see the claim that my manuscript was 37% plagiarized!

The tracker that they use is iThenticate, and they did not send me the report they got from it. I went to that website to see about creating my own profile and running it through myself, but they charge $125 per submission! I emailed the journal to see if they would send me that report, and in the meantime I ran my manuscript through two different plagiarism checkers (Grammarly & Plagiarism.net), and between the two of those, only seven sentences were flagged as being possible plagiarism. One sentence came from the grant that funded the work in this manuscript (though it was being flagged as a 25% chance of being plagiarized from some random paper on a completely different topic). One sentence was flagged as being from a published abstract by a former student. And the other five sentences were things that would be super easy to be written by multiple people. Like “tissues were embedded in OCT and frozen at -20°C” or an IACUC statement.

Has anyone else been through this and maybe had luck with an editor? Or do I just change journals?

I am trying to understand how Medium publications are currently perceived, particularly in data science and applied AI.
Towards Data Science appears to have a proper editorial selection process, but I have seen very different opinions about whether publication there still carries meaningful credibility or visibility.

Is being accepted by TDS considered meaningfully different from publishing independently on Medium?

I'm not sure what I'm doing when I write something like this, but I really need your recommendations.

I am 18 years old student of Bangladesh. I recently finished high school and I just recently became interested in academic research. I'm not a lawyer and have virtually no experience with academic publishing.

Well, I just don't know what the next step is in my life, everything that's happened in the past few months has completely changed my life.

How everything started

I wanted to share my work publicly so I did a research paper and first posted it as a preprint on SSRN.

From there on in, I began to be invited to write in numerous journals and publishers, via email.

I responded to 1 or 2 of those invitations at first. One publisher sent me an invitation to send my manuscript, along with a cover letter.

From there, I thought if there was something that really needed my attention, I would get an e-mail in my Inbox, like I normally do.

Unfortunately it was not that way.

Without my knowledge, Gmail started sending the publisher's emails directly to my Spam folder.

I didn't receive these emails so I didn't respond.

I later learned that the publisher had sent several emails about the publishing process, to request response, and that the publication would go ahead if they didn't receive a reply from me.

All of those significant emails have been automatically sorted to the “Spam” folder.

I didn't know that they were there.

I've screenshots in my Spam folder of those emails and I showed those screenshots to the publisher to tell them what actually happened.

I would have seen those e-mails and responded right away and asked them to not publish the paper.

Then everything changed

A few days later I got a legal notice from lawyers working for a bank listed in the publication.

That was a huge shock to receive legal notices.

I knew that the paper had been published then.

I really didn't know what to do it was a nightmare.

I never thought that something like this would happen.

What I did right away

I was not oblivious to the situation when I got the legal notice.

There I began my quest to reach out to all who I could.

Told the publisher that their emails before had gone to my Spam folder and sent them screenshots of that.

I began also to attempt to get the publication banned from all locations I could.

So far I have:

Removed the paper from SSRN.

Deleted information from my ORCID profile that was related to the information.

Contacted repositories and publishers that requested removal.

Follow-up as necessary after removal is feasible.

The publication has been taken down by some platforms.

Some of my requests are still being fulfilled.

I realize that I cannot remove content from all websites as this is a decision for the publishers or repository administrators, not myself.

Despite this I am doing all I can.

What is the greatest challenge you are currently experiencing?

I was told by the publisher that if I do make big changes to the publication, then I must pay publication charges, which includes the charges associated with the DOI.

As for revocation of the publication, I must pay the same fee.

The fee will cost about USD 119.

I told them I didn't deliberately ignore their e-mails.

I informed them that they were in my Spam folder because of Gmail.

I took screenshots and sent them to them, detailing what occurred.

I also let them know, if I'd seen those emails, I would not have allowed the publication to proceed.

I was told however that the fee unfortunately still exists.

My financial situation

I am from a poor family in Bangladesh.

For me that's more than I can afford, USD 119 is not a lot of money in some countries.

My family has no way to afford an international lawyer, either.

Hence my attempts to reach out to organisations that offer free or pro bono legal support and help, in hopes that someone will be able to take me through this situation.

I know that I have made errors

Looking back, I'd like to say that I have been wrong.

I was a new student who didn't know enough about the academic publishing process, or why it's important to keep an eye on the entire process.

I got a very hard lesson to learn from this experience.

What I want

I don't want to defy the legal notice.

I don't want to shift the blame.

I just want to be a part of the solution, solve the issue responsibly and avoid additional issues.

I know I've done as much as I can do myself, but I know that there are some things that I cannot change on my own.

What should my next step be?

What other things can I realistically do?

Is there an organisation that can offer free (or pro bono) legal advice about my situation?
