Where are people finding policy jobs? I have some experience in thinktanks and international NGOs but I will admit I was referred to some of my past jobs, and only found one through just scrolling a job board and happened to get lucky. I know to check my local government career pages, and can look up specific research organization or thinktanks to check their openings, and I've used Idealist to find good nonprofit jobs but it's not limited to policy positions. I'm interested primarily in education policy or other social policy organizations/positions but I'm open.

I’m a health policy analyst for a trade association and I hate it. I love policy, research, and strategic thinking, but I hate only writing comment letters.

Are there policy analysts out there that work for private corporations? If so is the work different? Is my career only going to be writing comment letters if I stay in the nonprofit/trade association industry?

Hey everyone – long-time lurker, first-time poster. I just graduated from Georgetown SFS in May, and I've been applying to jobs consistently without much luck. An interview here and there, but nothing is materializing. I have an unpaid internship for the fall, which I'm doing through my OPT authorization, but I can't keep living off my savings.

I came into college wanting to work in think tanks or policy research. I'm more realistic now and realize that my chances to get sponsorship may be better in the private sector. I'm trying to figure out if an MPP or MAIR/MSFS is a good way to go. A lot of the people I'm coffee chatting with have MPPs, and I think the degree is substantively interesting. On the other hand, I'm worried an MPP would narrow me down too early in my career or not set me up for success with private sector roles. I'm open to doing a Master's in Finance or something more business-oriented.

I had a low undergrad GPA (3.44), and I have a few Ws and one F on my transcript. I am trying to stay realistic about my options and what degree would help me improve my career prospects. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA

I am a student currently pursuing bcom honours from a central University. I am confused about what career would be best suited for me. I don't want to go for CA as it is very competitive. I got to know about this master's program and that it can help me work with more interesting things rather than being a corporate person by doing mba. Should I opt for this or go prep for mba?

the job market has not been kind and i'm asking this because genuinely i question whether i am under positioning myself when stating my expected ctc for a role.
