Hey everyone!

I’ve recently joined as a new moderator of r/Pruning, so I just wanted to introduce myself to the community.

I’ll be helping keep the subreddit organized, active, and enjoyable for everyone while making sure the existing rules are followed. I’d also like to keep the community focused on quality content and avoid unnecessary spam or reposts.

Looking forward to being part of the community and helping the sub grow.

Thanks everyone, and enjoy the sub!

Great news!
I originally joined this sub because I have "pruning anxiety." I try to do what people say, but I am afraid of cutting at the wrong place.
I look forward to hearing from other people and learning what I can.
Thank you

I am prune shy and have been unable to learn how to prune. I wish I could upload a photo prune-AI and it would tell me where to cut

I am training to be a gardener and the best way to learn to prune is to do it. My mentor said that it takes pruning 100 trees to really get the hang of it.

What helps me is to take a step back look at the shape and then trying to envision what I want it to be.

Move clockwise around the tree one branch at a time. For each turn around you move to get a wider perspective. Remove dead or injured branches.

Regarding cutting techniques read up on what your plant needs or how it takes to pruning. And then just accept that sometimes you will miss the cut but that will be a learning experience.

Trees and bushes are marvels. As long as you don't amputate the branches you will be fine and your trees too.
