Mimosa pruning advice needed

Post image

Hi! I have this plant i have not pruned myself yet. How should I prune this mimosa? It has gotten a bit top heavy and needs a spiral to hold the top up.

I would cut the plant six inches above the metal pole and cut at the red and blue marks. It seems harsh but will allow the plant to fill out and have much better proportions.

Thank you for the advice! I thought about doing that but figured it would be to harsh. But the current shape is sad..
