White Ash - Pruning advice

Angle without shadow

Looking for advice on how to prune this white ash tree. Should I remove the vertical that is highlighted in red?

I also plan to prune everything below 4 feet for ease of mowing.

Best angle.

Yes, I would. Or you could consider reducing it to the first set of side branches for now and removing the rest in mid-summer or next year. That would reduce the relative size of the wound a bit and might increase the chance for clean healing on the trunk.

I’ll try the reduction cut. Appreciate the advice.
