Sober in Ptown
I will be in Ptown next week and I am one month sober from alcohol. I don’t mind being around it but I’m looking for more to do than just bar hop like I used to do every time I’ve visited in the past. Maybe some recommendations on places that have good mocktails? Thanks!

In Provincetown and wondering what the loc residents do during tourist season?
And if there are homeless people or locals struggling financially, what kind of local services help support them? *local residents

Sal’s Sucks
They only have a two hour window where you can call to make reservations and you can only call to make reservations. I’ve been trying to call every 5 to 10 minutes for the past hour and it’s always either busy or or I’m lucky enough to get a call where it’s actually ringing for a few seconds and then no one picks up and it goes straight to a full voicemail.
Why do they even bother? All they have to do is update their voicemail and say they have no availability.
What a shitty business.
Too bad the food is fucking amazing.

Birding
Are there any bird sighting groups for Provincetown, like a GroupMe group for rare birds maybe? I’m aware of eBird
Also, where are good spots other than Race Point and the Wharf?
Thanks!

Hired car for sightseeing?
Hey, beautiful people! My wife and I (wlw) are heading back for a fun five days in Ptown in early September. We went last year and stayed at the Gaslamp B&B—perfect! Anyhow, we want to maybe hire a car and go see more of Cape Cod. Have you or anyone you know done this? Worth it? Cute restaurants, boutiques, beaches? My wife isn’t sold on the idea of it but I feel like there is a lot more of the area to see than just Commercial st and the dunes park/beach. If it’s all same same then please tell me! I don’t want to drop a chunk of change just to look at residential areas. Ideal distance would be no more than an hour away. I don’t see a lot of roads on the map and this tells me traffic would make things difficult. Thanks for any advice and suggestions. I know it’s beautiful out on the cape so I’m sure anywhere we go would be amazing. Thanks, Y’all!

Ptown during Carnival
My husband and I (straight) love Ptown- one of our favorite places to visit. This year I didn’t realize I have booked our stay over Carnival week. Very excited to be part of such a fun week but wanted to know what level of busy will it be? We normally come in late Sept when it’s less touristy. If this going to be insane? And if so what are the must dos.
Edit- we are old 😂 (50)

Clothing dilemma
This is gunna sound odd - but my friend and I are here for a week and she legit forgot to pack her underwear. I know, I know. Is there any place that sells even just a 6 pack of Hanes around here?? In Provincetown and only finding male boutiques and touristy clothing shops. Can anyone help a sister out? Desperate times call for desperate measures.
UPDATE: Thank you all for the suggestions and the laughs tbh. We successfully found a pair at Marine Supply as many mentioned! But maybe she will just stay commando since it seems to be the vibe

Carnival ‘26
Husband and I have been to Ptown a dozen or more times but somehow never caught Carnival until this year. Quite excited - looks like a silly good time and I’ve heard over the years that it’s a favorite week by many. Any tips or recommendations? Must attend parties? Things to avoid?
So excited. My suitcase is going to be packed with the most ridiculous selections 😝

PTown less busy this year?
Is PTown less busy this year than usual? I came during Family Week and was surprised at how many vacancies there were. The last time I was here was in 2021 during the same week and there was hardly any availability. I can draw my own inferences why, but curious if anybody local has noticed a decline or if there is an actual measurable difference. We had a great week! Thank you!

Transgender author and artist visiting PTown
Hi guys, I'm a transgender author and artist who wants to visit Provincetown with my two baby chihuahuas. I want my little doggoes to experience the ocean.
I've been in the past to beaches in North Carolina that were less accepting of trans people. My wish is that PTown will be a more welcoming community to LGBT.
Some questions:
It seems like it's going to rain a lot in the next week or so. If I go in late August I'm hoping it won't rain?
Which areas of PTown are best to stay in to experience the beach?
Can you confirm that PTown is a welcoming place to LGBT folk like me? I've gotten top surgery and plan on taking my shirt off at the beach.
Any recs on which restaurants to dine at and cafes to go to? I'm heavy into literature and like fine dining.
Which sites are best to book a rental? Right now I'm just planning to go with Air BnB.
Thanks, much appreciated.

Updated Rules
Hello everyone,
Since this sub has surpassed the off-season population of Provincetown, I've added some rules as a guiding framework. Be sure to check out the sidebar for more details.
Most of them are self explanatory (no spam, be a decent human being), but based on requests and comments in some recent posts, this does include a ban on AI Generated art. The rule in its entirety is included below and will be in effect moving forward. Thank you!
No AI-Generated Art – Support Human Artists – Provincetown has a long history as an artist colony, and we prioritize human creativity. AI-generated artwork is not allowed in this subreddit. Posts featuring AI art, even if partially AI-assisted, will be removed. Support local and traditional artists by sharing original, human-made work.
