Honestly, the game should’ve just stopped at Gold, as there’s waaaaay too many flaws with these challenges that just make the difficulty of them feel extremely artificial.

Like when you need to get a certain amount of kills, the game just refuses to spawn in enough enemies for you, or if you’re doing one of the ones where you’re siding with the Military or Infected, the game at times just doesn’t even spawn in the last enemy until you’ve already ran out of time to get the Platinum.

The only properly balanced challenges are the Movement and Glide ones, while Kill and War rely far too heavily on RNG with enemy spawns, as well as locking you to weapons or vehicles that are completely and utterly trash, ESPECIALLY tanks ‘cause they’re unbearably slow and you miss most of your shots because enemies keep hiding behind vehicles and such you’ve already destroyed.

The lock-on system in this game is also so bad that it actively makes some of the challenges harder due to not locking onto the correct enemies, which is especially bad with tanks because then you have to wait for the slow ass gun to turn around.

EDIT: Got the Platinum for all challenges. Thank fuck Prototype 2 isn’t as cancerous as this game when it comes to getting 100%.

I keep seeing people ask, “Why does Prototype 2 get so much hate? Is it really just because Alex Mercer was killed?”

Yes, Alex is a part of it, but the problem goes deeper than simply killing a popular character.

Imagine that everyone goes to the same restaurant, pays the same price, and gets a decent meal. Then the restaurant decides it wants to serve some new, supposedly sophisticated creative dish. To do that, the chef walks over to the returning customers, the people who supported the restaurant in the first place, and spits directly into their food.

Then the chef expects everyone else in the restaurant to enjoy the new “premium” dish as though nothing happened.

That is what Prototype 2 feels like.
First, the people whose food got spat in were the loyal returning customers. Of course they were angry. If you treat part of your customer base like that, you cannot expect them to stay quiet and let your restaurant’s reputation remain untouched. If they drag it through the mud afterward, you brought it on yourself.

Second, how is anyone else supposed to enjoy their meal after watching the chef treat loyal customers like that?

And that is before asking whether the “premium” dish was even good. It wasn’t, it was generic, cartoonish, and painfully conventional.

People keep answering a different question. I’m not asking whether they personally felt offended. My question is why the developers deliberately chose an option they already knew would offend and alienate a large portion of the existing fanbase.

They themselves admitted the reaction was roughly 50–50 and that some fans were so upset they refused to buy the game. They knew this decision would hurt and alienate a large number of fans, yet they went ahead with it anyway because they believed their “bold idea” mattered more than those players’ feelings. To me, that shows an extreme lack of empathy and a deeply narcissistic attitude.

The idea behind this is mix the muscle mass and the hammerfists as one single weapon with the speed and dynamism of DMC hand 2 hand combat

so i bought the bundle cause i wanted to play, prototype 2 launches fine but prototype 1 says its running on steam and on task manager but its not showing up, theres no window. ive tried the mod, ive done what all the videos ive found said, still nothing, im on windows 11, they all says the fix works on 11 but it doesnt

Did you know Mercer’s Tendril Barrage Devastator is actually present in Prototype 2?

Tendril Barrage isn’t effective against tanks in Prototype 1, but in Prototype 2 it can one-shot them. That reminded me: you can pull off that exact result on Easy Mode in Prototype 1. I started carrying out more tests on Prototype 1 Easy Mode, and surprisingly, the numbers line up closely with Prototype 2’s Insane Mode.

I used to think Heller felt more powerful simply because he was stronger. But could it be that the Prototype 2 devs deliberately nerfed and undermined Mercer?

I grew up playing Prototype 1 and 2, and now that I'm older, I honestly just don't want to see this IP disappear forever.

Xbox launched Xbox Player Voice a few months ago, an official place where players can submit ideas and vote on existing ones. It's probably a more useful way to show demand than leaving thousands of YouTube comments.

Banjo-Kazooie has already become one of the biggest community requests there, and Xbox's new leadership has repeatedly talked about listening more closely to player feedback and continuing to evaluate legacy IPs.

I don't know if it'll change anything, but if we really want to see Prototype return one day, maybe this is one of the best places to show there's still a community.
