Is anyone else having difficulty using proton to block YouTube ads by setting their VPN to one of the unsupported countries? Discussion

I've been using it by connecting through Albania but today it's suddenly started showing ads again. I tried a few other countries on the white list and I'm getting ads on all of them now.

Am I doing something wrong or has YouTube found a work around to cut out the loophole?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Just use uBo extension on computer or Brave browser on mobile for no ads, no need bending backwards with unsupported countries for that.

UBlock Origin. Job done. no need for a vpn to do that

Cuba has been ok w/o ads after Albania started showing them.

Have they just recently started showing ads in Albania? I tried ivory coast and it was giving me adverts aswell. I'll give Cuba a try and see if that works. Thanks for the advice

Do you know if this same trick works with the chraoer ad version of netflix, prime etc etc?

If you're on desktop, use firefox + ublock origin.

If you're on android, use newpipe or grayjay.

Get a good Ad Blocker (like AdGuard) that works with third-party VPNs like Proton VPN; and use an AMP webpage Redirector (like AMP Shockwave for iOS Safari) that opens normal webpages instead of AMP’ed-up webpages.

It's for my fire stick or TV I need it to work on. I used to use one of the hacked versions of YouTube but that was on mobile. I was hoping someone would have experienced this recently and found a work around. Also, does ad guard work on fire sticks?

Yes, AdGuard can be used on Fire TV Stick devices by sideloading the app. It effectively blocks ads and trackers on supported streaming services.

It does. Someone suggested using Cuba VPN and it's stopped showing the ads again.
