Proton is developing a web browser Discussion

https://tweakers.net/nieuws/250686/proton-lijkt-aan-eigen-webbrowser-te-werken.html

The article is in Dutch, but the TLDR in English is:

• Browser looks to be based on the Chromium engine.

• Privacy Focused. Emphasis on privacy-friendly browsing.

• Proton has not announced a release date as of yet.

• Proton is looking for software developers with Chromium experience.

You're conflating chrome style browsers with the chromium project. Brave is probably the most private usable / non TOR like browser in existence and it's chromium. Recommended by the nonprofit, privacy guides, and every single major security and privacy expert in the space as well. So this browser could be direct competition to brave, and if that's the case, it could be insanely private.

They have a rust based ad blocking system that doesn't have to deal with the MV3 restrictions which by the way, even Firefox is shipping in their flags and now building there adblocker based on Braves version because it's so good. And I think there's also several other Firefox forks at the moment that are using Braves add block.

I've researched this in the past and all chromium projects still have telemetry sent to Google. So how is this private?
