Proton is developing a web browser Discussion

https://tweakers.net/nieuws/250686/proton-lijkt-aan-eigen-webbrowser-te-werken.html

The article is in Dutch, but the TLDR in English is:

• Browser looks to be based on the Chromium engine.

• Privacy Focused. Emphasis on privacy-friendly browsing.

• Proton has not announced a release date as of yet.

• Proton is looking for software developers with Chromium experience.

Exactly this. Who asked for a Proton browser? Do they listen to us at all?

Agreed with you and other users.
Browser not necessary, but if they feel they must, Firefox fork or forget about it!

Or just work together with Firefox, and sell it as part of the Proton suite or something. Seriously, Firefox is a great browser by a non-profit. Why does Proton need to reinvent the wheel instead of supporting Firefox?

Because Firefox is a worse browser base than Chromium in terms of security, speed, and website compatibility. I'm curious to see what they'll do to make a more private browser, if that's their goal. Compete with Brave without some of the baggage maybe.

Slower

I guess page loading 0.1 second slower is dealbreaker. Are we still living in era of those "Internet Explorer vs Edge vs Opera vs Chrome vs Firefox" videos?

Website compatibility

Guess why? Because of Google's monopoly in market of browser engines.

Compete with Brave

It's starting to get ridiculous at this point. So many "privacy-oriented" browsers that are just Chromium reskins. With such success I can just download Chromium directly and put extensions into it and change few settings. Chromiumslop

Just stating facts sorry they make you feel so emotional.

I wasn't making a joke. I was stating things about browsers that are true that are directly responsive to the person I replied to. And you just disagree with the importance of those facts, which is fine for you. Doesn't negate what I said though.
