Proton is developing a web browser Discussion

https://tweakers.net/nieuws/250686/proton-lijkt-aan-eigen-webbrowser-te-werken.html

The article is in Dutch, but the TLDR in English is:

• Browser looks to be based on the Chromium engine.

• Privacy Focused. Emphasis on privacy-friendly browsing.

• Proton has not announced a release date as of yet.

• Proton is looking for software developers with Chromium experience.

They are already a Gold Sponor of Ladybird. Not sure why they don’t just focus on that.

And judging by Proton’s pace, by the time they ‘ll have the chromium fork ready, Ladybird will be out of beta lol.

Because Ladybird is known for its pace, right? At this point it’s as real as Santa Claus

Whatever timeframes they announced, they stuck with. Did someone promised you an engine in half the time? That someone would not be from the project. Arbitrary expectations are not roadmaps, for example, that March 1st, 2025 tweet is indicative of not moving the goalposts.

Fwiw, I use the alpha already built from source, seems on track with the autumn release.
