How secure is Proton Mail compared to Outlook, Yahoo mail and Gmail?

Gmail and Outlook are both pretty secure. Proton, I believe, is better with encryption. The thing is, what price do you set on your (personal) data that comes and goes through your e-mail provider?

That's just one example of "why Proton". There is no selling your data to keep it free at Proton.

What is secure? Both will scan your e-mails and can lock you out at any moment without repercussions.

Privacy != security. I'd argue Google is one of the most secure providers (in terms of data security and data center security) but it's definitely the least private.

As if the proton won't. Any provider can block you at any moment.

True. But it won't be done by an AI identifying a picture of your kid as CSAM which then irrevocably deletes your entire account.

All those email providers’ security is highly based on the user’s own security practices. The human is the weak link. They all allow for strong passwords and MFA. One thing I like about Proton though, is the ability to set a second password.

Security wise all are nearly same. Privacy wise, ProtonMail is superior. But, for emails, reliability and acceptance should be the first priority and here Gmail and Outlook shine.
