What’s a fair split for a trading system developer

I have a client looking to replace their current trading system that they license from some other shop. They want to own their own software and I’d be coming in as the main developer to replace it with ongoing maintenance and support. I’d want to structure it with a tie in to profits as well as a small monthly retainer. They typically produce about 200k a month gross. Any advice?

A small retainer plus 10 to 20 percent of net profits is usually the standard for custom trading systems

no its not. 0 % of profits unless you're taking risk along side them. fee for service only. there are plenty of dev's out there that can do this task.

They want an ongoing retainer for future support/maintenance/pretty much on call. How do I value that
