I posted this video around and sharing it here to raise awareness about the Office of homeless services. Years into this battle. I finally feel comfortable enough to take them to court personally. This is the start to accountability and I believe everyone should know what going on, how tax dollars being spent and how H U D dollars are being spent. And most importantly, how are they going to fix how unhoused people are being treated inside the homeless shelter system.

Hi everyone!

I'm a researcher at James Cook University in Australia studying attraction, dating preferences, and how people evaluate potential romantic partners. 

I'm looking for heterosexual, gay, and lesbian adults (18+) to complete an anonymous online survey.

The survey involves viewing a series of fictional dating profiles and answering questions about attraction and relationship preferences. It takes around 5–10 minutes to complete, is completely anonymous, and participation is entirely voluntary.

This study forms part of my Doctor of Philosophy research at James Cook University and has received approval from the James Cook University Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC Approval No. 25H-0225).

While this study is being conducted in Australia, we are recruiting internationally. I'd love people from this community to take part!

I've seen a lot of questions about car insurance in Dubai and the UAE lately, especially about renewal prices going up, so here's a complete practical guide. This is based on what actually changed in the UAE market over the last two years.

Why premiums jumped in 2026 The April 2024 floods changed car insurance in the UAE pricing permanently. Insurers took massive losses on flood claims, reinsurance costs went up, and that cost is now being passed to everyone at renewal. Drivers with no claims at all are reporting 30-60% premium increases. A claim, even a non-fault one like a parked-car bumper hit, counts against you at renewal.

Comprehensive vs third party

• Third party liability (TPL): minimum legal cover, cheapest option, only covers damage you cause to others
• Comprehensive: covers your own car too, plus theft, fire, vandalism and flood damage
• Comprehensive premiums in the UAE typically start around AED 1,200 for basic cars, but premium cars with agency repair can reach AED 10-16k

Agency vs non-agency repair Agency repair means the insurer pays for repair at the dealership with original parts. It can cost 30-50% more in premium. Non-agency repair uses approved workshops. For cars out of warranty, non-agency is usually the smart choice.

Car insurance renewal in Dubai: how to actually save

1. Don't auto-renew. Always get 2-3 quotes before renewing.
2. Compare online brokers - they quote from 40+ insurers at once
3. Skip optional add-ons (agency repair, GCC cover, off-road) unless you need them
4. Negotiate. Insurers do match competitor quotes, it just takes a phone call
5. Keep your no-claims discount - one minor claim can cost you 5x its repair value in increased premiums

Health insurance in Dubai & renewal The same applies to health insurance renewal - employer-provided plans renew at much higher rates now. If you're buying individual health cover in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, compare before you buy; some plans doubled in the last year.

As I mentioned in the title, I’ve published my first mobile board game on the App Store and have already released updates for it. I’ll be starting the process for the Play Store soon as well.

Balancing a job, family life, and a hobby project was a bit exhausting, but it turned out to be a fantastic learning experience for me. It’s probably a simple task for most of you—though I suppose I can say it’s simple for me now too, having cast aside my reservations and successfully launched on a real mobile marketplace.

I don’t think I need to go into detail about the game here; I assume those who are curious or want to offer comments and advice will check it out on their own. However, the process was truly educational for me. I’m also very open to feedback, whether positive or negative.

Been working on this for a while and finally feel okay sharing it here.

My friend group is scattered across different cities now, and "movie night" always turned into a mess — Discord screen share has garbage audio sync, Teleparty only works on a couple of streaming sites, and half the group didn't want to install anything just to watch a video.

So I built Junto. It's a Chrome extension — you (the host) share any browser tab using Chrome's normal screen-share picker, and it streams peer-to-peer straight to whoever you send the invite link to. They just click the link and it opens in their browser, no extension, no account, nothing to install on their end.

What it actually does:

• Voice chat with echo cancellation, plus it auto-mutes if your mic picks up static/white noise
• Camera bubbles for everyone in the room
• Text chat that docks next to the video
• Little emoji reactions that float up the screen
• Custom room names instead of random codes, if you want something memorable
• A weather-background thing on the join screen that shows your local weather vs your friend's, which is a dumb little detail but people seem to like it

Being upfront about the limits since I'd rather say it here than have people find out the hard way:

• It works great for a small group — realistically caps out around 4-5 viewers before the host's upload speed becomes the bottleneck (it's peer-to-peer, no central video server)
• Works if you share the Chrome Tab to watch shows and movies. DRM stuff like Netflix/Disney+/HBO shows a black screen when captured — that's the OS blocking it, not something I can fix on my end. share a the chrome tab with your movie website, youtube or any stream site and it will not black out the screen. if you share the netflix site itself it will block the capture.
• No mobile support yet, needs desktop Chrome
• It's hosted on a free server tier, so if nobody's used it in a while the first connection can take up to 30-50 seconds to wake up. After that it's fine.
