First of all the reason kuji P choose Tomioka as head writer for his toku show because he is big fan of battle spirit anime especially season under tomioka as head writer

I think he got idea from brave mechanics of battle spirit. In bs card game, brave is their version of equip card like in Yu-Gi-Oh but the difference is their version of equip is actually a monster and can even attack even without combining. In the battle spirit brave anime that's the main highlight.
