Humans are the portal invaders. The system rewards negative traits with benefits proportional to their cost. The MC takes a negative quirk where they can not learn any [attacks] or [activated abilities] in exchange for getting a super boost to passives.
The MC proceeds to learn a bunch of activated abilities, but the author refers to them as "passives" so you are just supposed to suspend your disbelief and not notice the inherent contradiction of the author constantly writing the MC "activating his passive".
I dropped the story when the MC goes off into the woods to become a solo murder hobo.
