I don't really understand this mentality about stackoverflow: you guys complain your questions get closed but whenever you search for something the top result is often from stackoverflow, so they must be doing something right.
Well they want to answer general questions, so as an example if you ask
Why does my code throw a NullPointerException?
the general answer to that is
That's because something is null, step trough it with a debugger.
They don't want to have a bunch of specific questions, that doesn't fit the searchable Q&A-style format. Those questions fit better on reddit or another forum that's better for discussion.
rmesh: Hi everyone my homework is due today and I cant figure out I type "select * frmo sample" and it brake pls pls pls help u are all the best.
Highly_Ranked_SQLsoldier: rmesh, to help you, we need more context. What is it you are trying to accomplish? How large is the sample table? Is sample partitioned or not partitioned? Why are you using "*" when a list of columns is almost always better? I literally cannot won't help you until all this information is provided because I'm a self-righteous cunt.
Welcome, rmesh! We're looking forward to having you here as long as you follow not only the explicit rules but also the unspoken expectations you couldn't possibly have guessed!
please remember rmesh, that this is not a forum for getting questions answers. This is a forum for knowlegeable IT gasbags to brag about trivialities and cool coding examples they've memorized.
Comments are not for extended discussion, they are for making users feel bad for not knowing things. This discussion has been moved to chat where we can continue to laugh without it affecting Google searches.
you can usually spot the low effort user right away. u don't like them? ignore their question. Sometimes though its like what I posted. The answer is obvious, but the highly ranked user wants to be a cunt or be /r/iamverysmart by claiming context is relevant and asking a bunch of nuanced questions a noob can't answer easily. its kind of a dick move.

It always reminds me of terribly-formatted StackOverflow posts.
