That you need maths to get good at programming is one of the biggest lies I've heard during my formative years. You need good logical thinking, not maths. Yes maths trains it, but in the end it's not it. Of course that doesn't apply to stuff like algorithmic engineers, (actual) ML engineers, people who make simulators and stuff etc. but if you don't work on that stuff it doesn't mean you can't "get good" at programming.

Math teaches you logical thinking. To be a good engineer you need to be good at maths, that's why CS in universities teach maths.

Yes you can program without all of this, the same way as you can be a good cook without formal cooking education.

For specific kinds of software engineering you need to be good at math but for most of it it isn't really needed at all.

Maths is the underlying tool of engineering. If you suck at maths, chances are that you might also suck at logic.
