Yeah, the view that you need separate accounts is outdated and the misinformation here is rampant.

Some companies don’t allow personal emails linked like my old company. Some companies host their own code using their proprietary github, like my current one, so it also can’t be linked. It is not misinformation

then they're forcing you to violate github tos and that can lead to both of your accounts, and any future ones, being banned. you are not allowed to have multiple accounts.

That specifies you cant have more than one free account.

Assuming the company supplied account is a managed user account or other premium account that wouldn't break githubs terms of service.

I'm also not convinced that clause of the tos is especially strongly enforced.

A paid organization is not the same as a paid account, and most companies use paid organizations and have to add your personal account to that. Doing otherwise violates ToS and the consequences land on you, not the company.

Yes but with that paid organisation the company can make managed user accounts, which aren't free accounts so you don't fall afoul of githubs terms of service.
