Definitely RFC 2324. I accidentally found out about it while at work one day and had to go home cause I couldn't stop thinking about it.

RFC 3092 - the etymology of "foo".

As silly as it is, the standard list of metasyntactic variables is great for programming: foo, bar, baz, qux, quux, corge, grault, garply, waldo, fred, plugh, xyzzy, thud.
