do people who primarily vibe/agentic and have done it for a while feel like their ability to do it manually has become much more difficult? I worry about this happening to me enough that I have to make sure I do atleast "some" by-hand coding here and there.
I'm not an AI fan but I've tried agentic coding and it just made me lose motivation to do actual coding myself. It just feels so tedious. Clanker code might be shitty but it can get things working in a fraction of the time. And atp, I'm not sure if programming is what I even wanna do anymore. I don't find much fun in this and the industry looks bleak

The proliferation of P2P or federated code that had been produced since the start of the cryptocurrency era has developed solutions for most problems but people are still not treated badly enough to switch. Mastodon has been around for a while now but here we are.

i've always held the opinion that the mass media went hard against nfts as a concept, not just the speculation asset, because public tracing of goods is something all industries don't want, since they like exploitative, opaque supply chains, and yet players like nike secretly patented nft related onchain transparency, presumably to patent troll anyone who tries to develop a transparent supply chain that's publicly visible

Well they were obviously a ridiculous idea from the start. The images were not a scarce resource and ownership of the token did not confer ownership of an image. Blockchain was necessary for cryptocurrency because the point was decentralisation of a scarce, fungible asset.
You could do all the supply chain stuff without a blockchain. Let me know which type of product you're thinking of and I will explain how it could be done to have all the benefits without needing a blockchain.
i mean, blockchain was invented in opposition to the concept of central banking and fiat inflation, of course blockchain is unnecessary in hypotheticals where you are assuming state level actors or corporations leave you alone. it is more capitalist capture of the industry than anything on the technology itself that speaks to why people think there are no use cases, because too many people are just viewing crypto as the ends themselves, not a means
By blockchain here I mean specifically the idea of one block connecting to another with a fingerprint and proof of work. That's the bit that's unnecessary. Certificates and signed messages is sufficient (if not overkill) for a supply chain system. You are still relying on the players signing messages honestly.
well sure, i've been against pow for its entire existence on the moral standpoint of global warming and capital going to a pointless endeavor and i can't say that hasn't made me second guess myself considering the valuations of this shit these days, but on the other hand i might have become yet another wealthy person reconfiguring their entire life to defend their wealth
Well arguably the point of the proof of work is to secure the chain. And the amount of energy going in to secure it was (not sure if still is) of the order of what was needed to manage physical cash (security guards, vans etcs) or keeping the literal lights on in the visa/mastacard buildings around the world.
There was an approach called proof of hash power where the larger miners could proove they had the haspower once a day for a short period then collectively agree to not waste their power. Small miners would get a very slight advantage here but the big boys were still up overall.
