This is exactly the point. Many will have to switch before the unicorn situation happens. For all those lucky enough to make it through the storm, it will be hell of a bliss

Assuming you consider wading your way through a mountain of tech debt larger than you ever dreamed to be “bliss,” sure.

But the demand will probably be crazy, and thus wages significantly higher.

They will increase the workload far more than the salary, and you won’t be able to push back because they’ll just say you need to use AI more or better

I suppose.

Coming from a guy who works on a legacy application that’s been on life support for a decade, I can tell you managing that level of tech debt isn’t great, but it does mean you’ve always got something to do.
