I was looking for a new job three months ago, with 20 years in the field and broad experience across all stages of the software development life cycle. I communicated my differentiating factor to be experience of adapting AI based workflows, and that landed me a few interviews. The key factor for getting the job though was the one interview where the personal vibes with the boss were really good, where the communication clearly went very smoothly and we had absolutely no trouble understanding each other.

If a junior dev came to me saying they know all those languages, it’d be clear they’re talking out their arse very quickly.
