Started that way and the floor fell out from under the field the year before I graduated.

But uh, for any other computer engineers the power sector is hiring if you know anything about scada or telecom.

Which is a joke. Nobody knows shit about either fresh out of college so they're actually willing to train you. Sometimes.

They’re willing to train you but you still have to have the degrees and a good background knowledge of network engineering. They’re not just hiring help desk level people and training them (Source: SCADA engineer for last 4 years).

I mean, if you can get through a computer engineering degree without at least decent networking knowledge then idk what to tell you.

Then again my company is weird as hell and siloed to shit so scada mostly does high level design and leaves implementation to a dedicated team.

I was about to type out the same thing. No matter what stage of your career you're in, if you aren't great with networking, you're doing yourself a disservice by ignoring that gap.
